So I stayed here for two nights and I'm not sure where to start so I'll go with the positives. Decent location. Bus stop is right out the front, 20 minuets from Greyhound/Amtrack by foot (or $7 cab ride) Shops within walking distance, and Old Town 10 minuets away on foot. The older gentleman who works the desk was the... More

So .... the accommodation was basic but fine..kitchen good. The issues we had during our overnight stay involved feeling rather patronised by the requirement to do "chores" before check out (they actually give you a card telling you what to do- even if you haven't been in the area they ask you to clean) this we found ridiculous. There was... More

Im going to preface this review by saying that this was my first stay at a hostel, but I was not let down. The staff was friendly and extremely gracious. Not once did they shy away from any questions, and were quick to give tips about the area. If youre looking to stay at the ritz ur in the wrong... More

If you are the kind of traveler who wants to have a REAL experience, stay in a funky old house and a bed with a soft quilt, and meet some interesting folks, this is your place. This is NOT Motel 6- ! (not "sterile"- but homey" - and cheaper!) All of the STAFF members i met were nothing but friendly and... More

I see there are a lot of negative reviews on this hostel...there is of course some truth in them. The building itself is 107 years old, so the rooms aren't going to be up to Hilton standards. Sure, the floors are creaky, the beds are stiff, and there's no place to hang a towel or plug in an Apple MacBook.... More

I have traveled around the world and have stayed at many hostels along the way, and t I have seen hostels or backpackers die - and this one is definitely on its way out. The prices are great, (40$ US for a single room with bathroom), but like everywhere, you get what you pay for. What is quite noticeable is... More

I am a registered nurse and stayed here in late April 2014. As with most all the reviews that staff is rude, all 3 of them that I met on varying levels. I stayed in a dorm with dust bunnies under the bed, the mattress was worn and when I attempted to turn it over to a better side, that... More

tl;dr This place would do in a pinch but there are better options. Do not expect much. I will try to start with the good. The location was OK and the place wasn't super filthy or anything. I will echo all those who have previously commented that the staff was very unfriendly. They either ignored us or just seemed bothered... More

It's one of those places where staff members frown at you and leave you feeling quite unwelcome. I wonder if this points to a morale issue. The man who checked me in, however, was quite friendly. The place is old and worn with badly leaking plumbing and clearly shows only grudging maintenance. The layout remains from the days when the... More

Definitely the cheapest deal in town - the "presidential suite" is the same price as the cheapest motel, the private rooms are only slightly more expensive than dorm beds. The location is great too, within short walking distance of downtown, which has lots of bars and places to eat, library, theaters. Old Town is close by too, with museums, the... More
