People - good; location - acceptable if you have a car ; price - acceptable ; condition of the building - really, really tired and dark . My first impression of the inside of the house was that it was very dark with too many tiny rooms narrow hallways and creaking floors. Maybe like going to your great aunts house... More

I stayed in a private room and ensuite bathroom. Four to five people could have slept in my room with me. My bed was comfortable and the hot shower was welcome. The windows were open when I arrived and stayed open while I was there, allowing me to enjoy the clean New Mexico air. Check-in and check-out were easy and... More

I don't think that I have ever had a better adventure than here. I have been hosteling for more than 30 years and to find this "gem" in Abq was wonderful. The staff is friendly, the house was clean, very welcoming, the price is just great for a single, right on the bus line and very close to downtown (3... More

Let me start off by saying I didn't particularly enjoy Albuquerque as a whole - I didn't feel safe, and my travel plans got screwed around by delays with the Amtrak/Greyhound. The Route 66 Hostel, while close to the Amtrak/Greyhound, didn't feel like it was in a very nice area, and on my first night in the Hostel, the other... More

I booked in to this place with a back up plan to stay elsewhere, based on previous tripadvisor reviews, but was pleasantly surprised in just about every aspect. The lounge dining and kitchen areas were great. Books on shelves everywhere - cool. Staff helpful and friendly. Very handy having the laundrette across the road. I would stay here again for... More

It's a good location, and great value for the price. Having the right expectation is important, hence you'll be disappointed if you're looking for an amenities like that of a hotel. It is an old building and amenities are not new, but it feels cosy, and I like the fact that there's a kitchen where you can make your meals.... More

This was definitely one of the coolest atmospheres I've experienced in a hostel before. The staff is very welcoming and the sense of community with them and the other guests is exactly what you'd want from a hostel. I felt safe staying here. It was an awesome value for our money. But parking is very limited! Be prepared to park... More

Hostel is fine for staying at, gives a place to sleep and seemed safe enough for us when wandering around the place. Good location between old town and new town all in walking distance. Pthe hostel could do with a good bit of maintenance, however, was clean enough for showering eating etc. Just appears grubby looking. Would stay again if... More

We really loved staying at the Route 66 Hostel. We stayed 2 different nights - one on our way to Texas and then again on the way back. I preferred the Euro Room upstairs - #7. I was treated to a beautiful sunrise and hot air balloons practicing for the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival. Great room! We stayed in... More
