Monterey Non-Smokers is an old Route 66 motel but it has been lovingly upgraded and is spotlessly clean. We particularly enjoyed the colorful sheets. There are lovely rose bushes outside each room. It's great value for the money and a short walk to Albuquerque's Old Town.

Reviews are generally accurate. This place is clean, spacious, and convenient to Old Town. Also in a strip of old, fifties Route 66 motels with vintage signage. Cool place, if you're into that type of thing. Also very affordable.

I found this hotel on tripadvisor.com. The reviews were great. I will echo them. We loved staying in a motel that was on Route 66 and had history. The beds were very comfortable and we took advantage of the swimming pool. It was walking distance to Old Town which was very convenient. This motel was the CLEANEST place I have... More

This was my 3rd, 4th and 5th time staying at the Monterey Non-Smokers Motel (July 3-6, 24-27 and August 7-9). Obviously, to me at least, they have a lot going for them. I previously reviewed them on July 5, 2010 in a review titled "My new 'home' in Albuquerque!" Well, here's the proof that I meant it. I like the... More

While traveling Route 66 the Monterey Motel was my choice to stay overnight in Albuquerque. It was a great selection. It's a family owned motel in a good location. The room was very nice. Parking in front of my door (I was on a motorcycle) was very convenient. A short walk to Old Town in ABQ for dinner. A great... More

My only regret is that we did not plan on staying in Albuquerque long enough. This location was perfect for us and we will stay here again. Our room, back a bit from the road, was located near the laundry and we were not bothered by noise from the road or other guests at all. The one way parking lot... More

Based on prior reviews decided to stay during our trip from Phoenix to Chicago. Just know that the owner runs a good clean motel but customer service and chitchat are not part of the package - I knew this going in. However, he did find my mother more interesting since they both lived in Norwood Park, IL area years ago.... More

Monterey Motel is a flash to the past. You get to park right in front of your motel room. At first glance it appears the rooms are small from the outside, but once you enter the room they are quite large and ever so clean. The decor is a mixture of 70's and Southwest . But the outstanding feature is... More

Arriving in the afternoon, we checked in at the hottest time of the day. We were relieved to see a large sized pool behind the parking lot, introduced by the motel owner himself. Our room was clean, with 70's furnishings adorning both the inside and out. The sign seemed tacky and funny at first glance, but our stay was very... More

This motel was fine. A bit of a throwback but clean, comfortable and in a great location a few minutes walk from the Old Town. It's a decent size and has fridge/air con etc. The owner's not so cheery, it seems everyone is a smoker until proven innocent! I can appreciate the sentiment though. Free parking and wifi, also well... More
