It may look a bit borstal-ish from the outside, making me wish I had booked in at the Park Plaza when I arrived late at night, however, it's homey and welcoming inside. The attentive and friendly hosts were on the desk most of the times I needed them. Visitors/travelers were open and friendly. Residents a more mixed breed. I appreciated... More

This my favorite hostel in Salt Lake City. The staff are great and the atmosphere good. It is not a fancy expensive place rather a great value for the money. It is surrounded by public transportation but in a very quiet neighborhood. Grocery store is two streets away and the cooking facilities are great here. I love the onsite laundry.... More

I first staid at the Avenues Hostel in 1999. I've just stayed for 5 days in Jan' '15 and I found the team there offering the same courteous, friendly welcome as I did on my first visit. If you need local knowledge, travel advice or simply need to know events happening in Salt Lake the folk just could not be... More

I believe the church uses this property as a half way house. Very uncomfortable environment, LOUD vomiting in communal bathrooms, not very clean, and nothing included in price. Had to pay extra for towels

I've been staing here for a few weeks now, and I just love it. I'm new to Salt Lake, and I've been staying here while I look for a job and to get myself settles. The staff is very nice. The owner is very cool and nderstanding. The hostel itself is clean and in a great locaton. Thank you for... More

I stayed here for a few nights on my roadtrip from Las Vegas to Seattle. The hostel is quiet and located a couple fo blocks from the city centre. I really enjoyed it there though I missed that the hostel arranges it's own excursions.

I called ahead to confirm availability.... It would be $23 per night. No reservation was needed. Less than two hours later I arrived to check in and the total was $31 because there was "a convention in town." The hostel was practically empty. I explained that I just called and was told $23, and the response was that "it must... More

The staff at this hostel were really bad - it is owned by three asian people who don't seem to have a grasp on what hosteling is or what is in their city. They weren't helpful when it came to asking for things to see. The fact that you have to check in to a private dormitory if you arrive... More

We (two Brits road tripping across America) stayed at The Avenues hostel for two nights in July. We found the hostel ok - after all, it was just a stop off on our way, and if that's what you're after then it's spot on, especially for the price. + TV in the dorm room - this is unusual in terms...
