Our family was returning from a short visit to yellowstone we had not made any arrangements before because we were not sure if we would drive into salt lake and stop over or not. The kids were fussing my daughter has recently been blessed with a beautiful daughter. Needless to say we could all use a place to rest a... more

We booked for 4 nights but only stayed for two. Construction outside our window woke us up. Room was not serviced because the "privacy button was on." When we pointed this out no attempt was made to rectify the problem. Sent an email after our stay and received an apology but nothing else. more

Let me start by saying that this is not a fancy place with all the amenitites. It is perfect for the budget traveller who still expects great value, cleanliness and service. We were a group of 2 adults, a senior and a 9 year old child and had come to do genealogy at the family history center (not the child).... more

We stayed at this hotel because of the previous reviews at Tripadvisor. Previous reviewers mentioned about its affordable price, slightly dated decor, clean rooms and sensational made-to-order omelette breakfasts. All those comments turned out to be TRUE. We stayed there for 3 nights and we enjoyed our stay a lot. It is close to the Temple Square and the surrounding... more

A great central location. Hotel is only a few minutes from Temple Square and other central points. Rooms not great in size and a little outdated but very clean and comfortable. This is the best breakfast we have had in America, cooked to order, so it is fresh and tastey. Staff were all so friendly and very helpfull. The price... more

Wonderful base for using the LDS genealogy library three blocks away. Friendly, helpful staff, free pickup and return to airport, good reading lights in room (a small thing but neglected by so many hotels), and an overall genteel dowager feel to this 1920s family-owned property, showing some age but with dignity, including new paint and carpeting in the comfortable rooms.... more

This September I returned to the Carlton for my seventh week-long stay in as many years. My roomate and I come for a week of research at the Family History Library every Fall. We know the staff so well, they meet our particular needs without us even asking! We had an older suite this time, but as usual, it was... more

We stayed here 2 nights over Christmas holiday. This property is like the hotels of yesteryear. It is run well but needs a womans touch. They need to add some color, better artwork and some updated furnishing and this place could be a boutique business hotel. They have an area for a hot tub which is nice a feature. It is located a block from... more

If you prefer older hotels with character to the generic cookie-cutter newer budget hotels, this one is for you. The hotel was built in 1924 and has been remodeled at different times over the years. The rooms are very clean and functional. It reminds me of some of the older hotels in London--not fancy, but great if you plan to... more
