Traveling south thru Atlanta is tiring, but we were rewarded with a pleasant overnight stay in Macon at The 1842 Inn. The room was gracious with high ceilings, ante-bellum styled furnishings, large room complete with a sitting area, delightful common areas, enthusiastically mixed drinks and hors d'oeuvres, comfortable King sized bed, and a delicious breakfast delivered to the room. Gloria... More

My mother and I stayed here on our way to Savannah. It was our first time to GA and we loved 1842. It was a beautifully restored home and the service was excellent. We stayed in the cottage and it was quiet, clean and the garden was beautiful to enjoy breakfast. The breakfast service was gorgeous and the food was... More

This place is great - nice and cozy, affordable AND they allow dogs! The staff is very welcoming and overall stay was good. If you are traveling through GA and looking for a B&B with character, this is your spot.

2nd stay in 6 months I felt like a queen!!! To be in a mansion that real people used to live in was a great experience! Southern charm at it's best!! Magnolia and Mercer rooms are the largest with fireplace, breakfast table, sitting area and decorated for Christmas Blue robes and lots of heat and hot water round out the... More

We had a delightful stay. The attention to details was exceptional. Breakfast was outstanding. We willl look forward to staying here again! The large apartment block next door was a non-item for us. Perhaps it might be in the summer, but the garden in the rear would keep your eyes busy! We walked down to a great restaurant, but took... More

As arranged by our travel agent, we sought a characterful establishment in Georgia between the coast and Atlanta. The 1842 Inn in Macon is that. It is a lovely building in a nice neighbourhood, although with a large apartment block next door. The property is furbished with interesting artefacts and furniture. Our room, and porch, in the adjacent cottage was... More

This is our second stay at the 1842 Inn. We stayed in the Ocmulgee,, pronounced "Oak-mug-ee", by the locals. We liked this room better than the one across the hall, but they were both good and at the rear of the old house and it was easy to come downstairs for the breakfast. A little more variety in the southern... More

We were in town for Macon Octoberfest and had the pleasure of staying at the 1842 Inn. The accommodations were top notch and the staff was amazing. Southern hospitality at its finest! By the end of the weekend we had made friends with everyone that worked there and it truly felt like home. We are looking forward to visiting Macon... More

The staff was absolutely amazing. Drinks in the lounge and breakfasts were great. Our room, was a bit lacking. Stains on the ceilings and a shower with unpredictable water temperature were our main concerns. For the price we paid I really expected our room to be a little nicer, but honestly, we'd stay again. Perhaps just in a different room.

It's a very nice southern mansion turned B&B. The rooms are all unique with huge canopied beds. The public spaces are marvelous and the veranda porch can't be beat. We spent two nights there and had a very nice time. The staff was extremely competent and friendly. Breakfast was really great, a cut above most. This place caters to parents... More
