This was our first visit to Georgia and to Southern USA. We arrived at 1842 inn tired and jetlagged after a long journey from London. But our spirits were immediately lifted by excitement at staying somewhere which looked just like the Southern homes we had seen in movies. And the inside was no less imposing - our high ceilinged room... More

Enjoying a couple of days away staying at the 1842 Inn. The building and the service are immaculate. We're in the Mercer Room in the main house. This is not a house where you are expected to make your own tea or coffee in your room, just ask and whatever you want will be provided. This is a great place... More

My husband and I decided to stay in Macon on our trip from Florida to visit family in Knoxville. Picked the 1842 In from Tripadvisor. Great place..made reservation with EJ on the phone and he was very helpful. Arrived in time to have cocktails and hors d'oevres in the charming parlor. Gloria showed us our room and made some dinner... More

This is not just a beautiful antebellum inn. The service is incredible. Genuinely friendly and exceptional. The rooms are gorgeous. We had had a very trying day driving in crazy weather, and were happy just to spend the morning resting and reading in the lovely room. Breakfast is perfect, and there is even a full bar and evening appetizers. Our... More

The best hotel we stayed in during our trio to Georgia. The rooms and hotel have lovely period furniture and paintings. The welcome and service are very personal and you are made to feel welcome. The hors d'oeuvres and glass of wine on the porch in the early evening with the azaleas was wonderful even in March the temperature was... More

We stayed two nights at 1842 and will regard it as a memorable experience. The house itself is amazing, beautifully furnished and maintained. Our room, "Ocmulgee" was upstairs in the main house- it was comfortable and cosy. The breakfast was delicious and generous. The staff could not have been more helpful and it was worth visiting Macon just to stay... More

A beautiful and charming antebellum home on a beautiful street lined with antebellum homes. The staff is very warm and welcoming and can’t do enough for you. In the early evening elegant appetizers are served. Later in the evening there are cookies. We loved the inn because it was like stepping back in time except that you have a modern... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2015

The 1842 Inn is one of the many antebellum homes in the 2 square mile "College Hill Corridor" area of Macon. It is one of the only B&B Inns in town and has an extensive wall of photographs of celebrities who have stayed there. The staff was gracious. The breakfast was good. The accoutrements were excellent.

The house itself is stunning both inside and out. The staff were friendly and professional. It was nice to have the option of breakfast in the room which we took advantage off. Lovely food. It was a rainy Sunday when we stayed so had limited opportunity to use the lovely veranda seating but it was available nonetheless. My friend had... More
