It's a very nice southern mansion turned B&B. The rooms are all unique with huge canopied beds. The public spaces are marvelous and the veranda porch can't be beat. We spent two nights there and had a very nice time. The staff was extremely competent and friendly. Breakfast was really great, a cut above most. This place caters to parents... More

This was a very nice stay. We were greeted very warmly, and taken to our room we were given personnel attention and felt very welcome. We did not get to try the evening snacks or the cookies they serve as we were out with our son. But the breakfast was good. They served it in the courtyard. Plenty of coffee... More

From the moment you arrive you know this will be something special. It feels as though you have been removed from modern life to a place of quiet luxury. The Inn and its bedrooms are immaculately furnished but it is the courtesy of the staff that underpins everything. Afternoon hors d'oeuvres provide a good opportunity to meet other guests and... We stayed for two nights at the Inn and found the experience thoroughly enjoyable due to the high standard of customer service and beautiful surroundings. All the staff we met treated us exceptionally well and with genuine southern hospitality. They were very knowledgeable on the area and made sound recommendations for sightseeing and dining. The breakfast and canapes were beautifully... More

Only stayed one night in the Nancy Hanks room. Staying at the inn is a unique experience and very different from one of the outlying chain hotels. There's good and bad to that. Pros: absolutely beautiful building in an historic neighborhood; walking distance to lively historic downtown and decent restaurants; quiet courtyard with comfortable outdoor furniture; lovely hospitality hour with... Next time you're in Macon, pass up the chain hotels and stay at the gracious 1842 Inn. The Inn is an historic home, lovingly maintained, and situated on College St., an area known for its impressive mansions. The Inn has a lovely brick paved courtyard reminiscent of Charleston or Savannah. Here we were served breakfast as weather permitted. During the... More

From the moment of our arrival the service we received was fantastic. Canapes in the parlour, a fresh pot of coffee and advice about restaurant choices were forthcoming minutes after checking in. Our room in the main house was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Indeed the whole place was immaculate. Breakfast in the courtyard was excellent. Gorgeous planting created an... More

The mantra of the 1842 Inn is: 'To enliven the human spirit of our guests by providing extraordinary personal service, overt attention to detail, and high levels of respect'. Boy, did they live up to this! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt totally pampered. The bedroom decor was delightful and the 'canapés reception' at... More

I have waited to write this review because there is SO much I want to say about this incredible inn and was afraid I wouldn’t convey it adequately. Why Macon was a destination on this family road trip I can't say except that it seemed to call to me. My husband discovered this gem of an inn and insisted that,... More

We stayed here for night after being on the road for six hours. We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary with champagne, mint juleps and lovely hors d'oeuvres on the veranda. Breakfast was exquisite, try the french toast! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, our experience was delightful. You can't speak highly enough of the staff and... More
