Stayed in our campervan overnite in a terrific site surrounded by rainforest. Staff were friendly and helpful, amenities were tidy and clean. Spa was large and hot :) but looks a bit aged with cracks in the plastic molding. Internet service was $4 for unlimited data which was good. We didn't use the kitchen but it was large and well... We journeyed around the South Island and this was one of our stops that we loved. Excellent communal eating area that was well used by all. Would recommend to others to stop, stay, listen to the bird life and get out and walk around. Thanks for making this a great memory

Great place. My partner and I stayed here in our camper van. The bays were private and felt like you were in the forest. They also have the bestttt hot showers, weren't overly clean (even after the cleaner just left) but the pressure was great. Big thing when caravaning

Traveling around New Zealand in a camper van we were lucky enough to choose this park to stay a couple of nights . Had a wonderful huge outdoor spa. A lovely restaurant with big open fire where we met lots of other travelers and backpackers during a all you can eat pizza night . Facilities were clean and heated !... More

I had originally booked the $85 room but decided to upgrade as it was a bit ordinary. Would've done for one night but as I was there for 2 I wanted something nicer. The tree huts are lovely. Nice and modern, stylish, decent bathroom, clean, sufficient kitchen to cook your own meals and secluded enough if you want something romantic.... More

Great grounds amongst the rainforest. Short walk to hot pools. Clean bathrooms. Lovely restaurant and bar on the site. Wish we had time to stay for another night. Price good compared to others as well. Would recommend. Loved Franz Josef town.

What a great place and such friendly staff thanks Mel and Becki for making us so welcome. We booked one night on our way down from Nelson to Wanaka, an ensuite room and we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a cosy Gecko Cottage. Unsure how far we wanted to travel on our return home we didn't make a... More

We arrived in Franz Josef for the one night and stayed in a Gecko Cottage and it was great. The room was very well presented and clean. The surroundings of the Gecko Cottage was amazing, surrounded by native bush and tucked away down the back of the park. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

The room in the "Park Motel" section was good, but it's not a peaceful retreat as the name might suggest / mislead, and the kitchen was a mess. LOCATION: Close to the Franz Josef Glacier Guides' office and the hot pools, but then again the town is pretty small. When you can walk its entire length in ten minutes, everything's... More

We stayed in a Tree Lodge at the Rainforest Retreat, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will return to stay with you again, on our next trip to Franz Joseph. We found the accommodation to be, clean, warm, and spacious. We needed a calming & relaxing holiday and being tucked in amongst the forest was a perfect setting. (We won't... More
