We stayed here at the end of our trip. It was a delight! The room was huge and had a patio that was outside in a rain forest - honest! The fresh air smelled great as we sat outside and relaxed. Staff was totally helpful and we took their recommendations for dinner and lunch. Spot on perfectly good food. When... More

Punga Grove was a pleasant surprise. We had an apartment with a kitchenette, which was very handy given how expensive breakfast is in New Zealand (if you're buying it at a cafe/restaurant). It was very spacious, clean and tidy, and the front desk staff (Bernie) was incredibly friendly and helpful, making recommendations on restaurants and time frames to get things... More

We stayed for two night in the little gentle motel, situated centrally in Franz Joset, and managed by very friendly people. Open the door, and tour feel close to the jungle. Nice room, good service, and close to the few restaurants

We stayed at Ounga Grove 2 nights and were immediately impressed by the very friendly service at reception. She was so helpful in showing us around, giving us directions to the various sites and restaurants, giving us great restaurant recommendations and even offering us milk to keep in our fridge for when we made coffee and tea. The suites were... More

Stayed just one night in a 1 bedroom unit. The unit was very spcious and clean. While it is not a 5 star resort it has everything you need. Just a 5 minute walk to town and a short drive to the glacier. All in all very good and quiet. Reasonable value for money at $170 pn.

we had originally booked a 2 bed apartment but were upgraded to 2 exec rooms, clean, comfortable, big comfortable beds, and located in quiet location but central to the town. Rooms have kitchenette, ok for cooking, we did and not a problem. but not full kitchen staff very friendly, would have no problems in recommending this accommodation

We were given an excellent & friendly welcome by Bernie and her lovely sister. They gave us an splendid overview of the lovely town. The executive unit was cosy and lovely and in a tranquil rainforest setting. The bath-tub provided a warm and cosy bath on a cool summer night. The motel was conveniently located amidst plenty of eateries and shops.... More

In Punga Grove we got a very nice and big room, we stayed here for 2 nights to enjoy the beautiful nature of New Zealand and the glaciers. One wall of the room was glass only, with a view directly into the deep jungle. The plants and trees in fact ended on our terrace. Great to wake up, open curtons... More

Excellent option for Franz Josef. The staff is very friendly, the room is very comfort and clean. It had even a small kitchen and a terrace. As it is in a very small town, the location is not a big concern, all hotels are near the main restaurants and shops. Wifi was free but it did not work in the... More

We had a nice clean room that opened up to a small little porch out back. They were out of milk for our coffee and there was a delivery issue, but they had it sorted out by late evening. The guy in reception was nice and gave us a free wifi passcodes as he said they run out quickly (and... More
