We stayed only one night at this good motel-style B&B. After the family-style B&Bs we had been spoiled by this far on the trip, this place was impersonal, more like a good Best Western. The room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, order taken and served by a waitress.

The rooms here are nice and the bathrooms are amazing--huge shower and bathtub. The setting is very pretty and the staff are friendly. The location is very convenient too--right off the main road. But for the price, I would expect a bit more in terms of the included breakfast, especially the coffee. Everywhere we went in NZ, the coffee was... More

The Westwood is a lovely place with very spacious and cozy wooden rooms, very clean. The common area is a gorgeous place with excellent decoration and a delicious garden. We arrived late in the afternoon and we were stoned the morning after with the views of the Franz Joseph glacier.

We enjoyed a lovely stay here. The room was large, comfortable, and impeccably clean. We found the hot breakfast delicious. The gathering room with its soaring views of the glacier was exceptional. We would recommend this for a visit to Franz Josef.

We had a two night stay towards the end of our long tour in New Zealand, by then it had become easy to be tired of B & B accomodation but Westwood Lodge is just the ticket. Our coach house room was enormous, large comfortable bed, a big sitting area and a small patio. The bathroom is gigantic and perhaps... More

Our New Zealand agent booked this B&B and we were delighted.. The rooms are large, well appointed, and modern. The grounds are beautifully gardened, and the common areas are large and cozy. A couple recommended hotels will pick you up and return you to the lodge, a great service.

Everything about this place oozed class. The view from our lodge was stunning with the Franz Josef Glazier in the background. Our coach room suite was very spacious with a very comfortable bed and a superb bathroom.Breakfast was delicious.Only slight downside is the wifi signal is not always strong but we are surrounded by mountains so can't complain.Strongly recommend this place.

We stayed here only one night whilst travelling up to Nelson. We'd had a long day travelling and the friendly owner suggested some restaurants and arranged for us to be picked up and taken there and returned back. We stayed in the coach house suite which is a lovely large modern room with an enormous en suite shower room. The... More

The motel-esque rooms are nice, the "lodge" common areas are nice, everything is clean, our cooked breakfast was fine, and service from staff member Maree was pleasant. We were just a bit put off by the owner. We had two encounters with the owner and both of them were uncomfortable. We were using Franz Josef as a midpoint during the... More

Dear Dragonboat07 Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion of your brief stay with us here at Westwood Lodge. I do hope you enjoyed the drive to Nelson & had time to take in a view of the scenic stops along the way. Because of our remote location it is a courtesy for guests to phone ahead... More

Found the lodge easily on the main highway on the left just before the centre of town. After driving all day it was a welcome sight. There is 2 free spaces for cars to park while checking in just next to reception. The owner greeted us with a friendly smile n lots if info where to go & what hikes... More
