If you're going to Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand and you want to go first class, this is the hotel to stay at! It's a five star Spa retreat and we were treated like royalty. When we drove in, people were right there to take our luggage. There was also a Maori man dressed up like a warrior greeting... More

This is our - me, wife and two teenage sons - fourth stop on our tour of the South Island, and we arrived after a long car journey from Greymouth through the rain and after the train journey across from Christchurch - really worth doing this. So being a bit tired after a very early morning start check-in was unfortunately... More

This is an updated review of our 2 night stay at Te Waonui Forest Retreat. I was contacted by the general manager, Richard Bungeroth, following the posting of my original review and thanks to his personal and sincere response I felt I should revisit some of my comments. Things initially seemed promising following an "upgrade" when the Scenic Hotel just... More

Dear Giyomymo A good night sleep is the primary reason why we exist as a Hotel in the first place, so sincerest apologies again for stumbling at the most basic of hurdles! Thankfully sleep deprivation, for whatever reason, is not a problem normally associated with the tranquility of Te Waonui but like we see, there is always a first time... More

We struggled with the wool quilt which was very heavy - the second day we had just the cover which was much more comfortable! We ate... More
