Following yet another lengthy drive on our north to south venture, we reached Fox Glacier and the Westhaven Motel. This is your basic style of motel, with parking spaces immediately outside the front doors. Not all of the units do have spaces directly outside, but there is sufficient space in a general parking area for those. The rooms are of... More

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in Feb 2015 (Rm 7). What I liked: - good sized room - location - right in the midst of the town with easy access to cafes, etc. - complimentary wifi - being able to park outside the room (but be careful-some rooms do not have this option) - having some kitchenette facilities... We stayed only one night in order to visit the Fox Glacier. The location is perfect, in the main street of the town, with car park. But, in my opinion, this motel is not charm. Just the opposite, looks like a business motel instead a mountain cabin. Although the room n.1 was big with kitchen facilities, instead of dining table... More

So yes, this motel is located right at the main street of Fox Glacier town. It's a very small town though, so no matter where you stay, it will be easily accessible to majority of interesting places. The host is very friendly at this motel and they are happy to chat with you, introduce neighbourhood and recommend activities. One good... More

My wife and I stayed at this motel in mid-January for one night as we made our way down the west coast. The receptionist was very helpful in giving us the tip to view Mt Cook and the Fox Glacier from the nearby lookout past Lake Matheson and describing the small township. Lake Matheson and the glacier are only a... More

You pay the 'Fox Glacier premium' here (ie: everything costs more cause there's no real alternative) but the motel itself was fine, recently built, well laid out, clearn rooms and decent beds, and the front desk were helpful (if slightly ditzy). In the centre of town, easy walk to restaurants.

Greeted with a warm welcome and plenty of useful information. Room was clean and spacious. Only thing that spoilt our visit was the rain for two days. The owner was so nice she even offered to lend me her waterproof jacket as I discovered mine was no longer waterproof. Definitely recommend this place.

We had a superior room which had 2 double beds! Nicely appointed rooms, with everything we needed. Good bathroom and kitchen facilities. Although 23 kms from Franz Joseph, we were glad we were here as it was a nicer location on the edge of the village. We had two nights here and don't think we could have bettered it. Clean... More

We had a warm welcome here and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet, though the one we were allocated was very dark as it was at the end and the back patio doors opened onto a fence. Also there was a single camp bed in the middle of the room that took up quite a bit of space. However... More

Clean, modern and conveniently located, the Westhaven was just what we needed! After a dreadful experience in Hari Hari this facility exceeded our expectations! A large, clean room with all the fixin's! We had a handicap acessible room which made it extra roomy. The kitchenette included everything we could have needed and they have a covered patio with grill (barbie)... More
