Omarama is a good staging area for visiting Mt Cook, Queenstown or heading to the east coast. The staff were very helpful, rooms was clean and tidy. The town was quiet when we were there but the hotel had a restaurant and there were other choices of places to eat near by. more

Omarama is a staging post between Christchurch/Mt Cook and Queenstown/Dunedin. There are a limited choice of hotels and the Heritage Gateway would be an excellent choice. We arrived just after 2 coachloads, but were attended to quickly in reception. Delighted to receive an upgrade, to one of the refurbished rooms. This was very spacious and well-equipped. Despite facing the road, and the two coachloads of guests, the hotel was very quiet. more

There is not much in Omarama, however this is a lovely hotel with good service and clean large rooms. The restaurant food is a little too fancy, try the local pub across the road for a good meal. The hotel staff were very helpful and knowledgeable of the surrounding tourist activities. more
