While travelling around New Zealand I have been to many hostels. But this one was for sure the most outstanding one. The scenery around is simply beautiful and the host, Tony, is exceptional. He doesnt take this as a business but instead, takes you in as a real guest to his cosy home and makes everything possible that you get... More

I recently stayed at Buscot Station for a night when travelling on a Hiking NZ trip. The hostel is situated on a working farm and run by Tony, who is happy to share his home with his guests. I stayed in the dorm room which had nice comfy beds and a shared bathroom. The views from the homestead out over... More

That's a good place to stay in an awesome Natur with a host who helps where ever he can! We stayed there for 2 nights just relaxing in the beautiful garden. The house is really cosy and you feel a little bit like home.

We had a lovely night here in a huge double room - Tony moved things around to accommodate us as he was quite booked up. The setting in fantastic, overlooking the beautiful Hills and farmland. Tony took us down to see the cows being milked, as well as watch him feed the lambs - and he's an absolute wealth of... More

We actually wanted to stay on lake tekapo, but everything was booked so I stumbled over this awesome place. It is a lovely place surrounded by sheep farms with great views of the mountains. Our twin room was nice and comfy (only curtains would be nice there), the kitchen and living room has all you need. The owner Tony is... More

We stumbled across this place by accident but it proved to be the perfect base from which to explore the Mount Cook National Park. We had a wonderfully cosy evening by the fire, being entertained by Tony, knowledgeable on everything from NZ politics, to agriculture, to travelling in Europe! The room was comfortable, and the facilities were more than adequate.

Well, if you want to know the latest about farming sheep and kettle, hassles with politicians less familiar with farming, drainage systems, irigation systems, pest control, bird life reinstated etc., then this is your place to go! Take a bottle of pinot noir and settle down in Tony's lounge to listen to his words and awake the next morning with... More

We stayed two nights and enjoyed it very much. Very friendly host, Tony, who is himself an experienced traveler. He knows what other travelers want! A home away from home! And this is it! We liked the fact that this is really a home, not something built for commercial use.

After a long days drive we found Buscot Station Back Packers. Although very dark, finding the sign for going down the 0.5km driveway was no problem. Our room upstairs was large, the bed very comfortable, and we had a bathroom to ourselves. There were only 3 other guests so using the kitchen was no problem but could be if the... More

My husband and I spent one night here en route to Mount Cook from the Catlins. We have tried to stick to small BBH hostels as we find that they are more social, comfortable, quiet and clean and we certainly weren't let down at Buscot Station which was all of these things. The accomodation is more like a B &... More
