Now known as Tawharanui Lodge. I was fortunate enough to visit their open day on 6 October 2013. The new Managers are Jill and Peter. Renovations and improvements have begun. We were very much impressed with the location. The gardens are beautiful with birdsong. Peace and tranquility. We were shown the luxury villas these were located with views to the... More

Beds awful - $150 massage in town in the morning completely undone. Rooms not noise proof and dated. Shame as Carolyn - host was pleasant - but it was like a motel with its peak circa 1996. Try and stay in auckland council's Bach instead, but you'd need to bring your own sheets!!

My partner and I got a grabone voucher for a night here and were really excited about a nice weekend away out of the city. The place looked lovely when we arrived and the hosts Carolyn and Tom were welcoming and friendly. The room itself looked nice. But then after a couple of hours we realised that the room had... More

We went to stay for my husband's birthday in Feb. The Lodge is nothing as described on the website. You are a decent 10-15 min drive out of Warkworth and when we were there they did not have any wine or beers on offer. The restaurant was closed in evening although the host did call to tell us this. The... More

The resort is getting a little tired but still very nice and comfortable. I would not really describe it as a "Luxury Lodge" but still it was a very pleasant get away in a peaceful setting. The mangers Carolyn and Tom were welcoming and obliging with suggestions for local visits. They recommended and booked an excellent local restaurant, although we... More

Got the deal on a grabone - and was not too sure what to expect. The host was just lovely and provided all the information we needed. Did not realise there were no TVs in the room and was met with all a bit of a hassle when asked how the TV in the communal lounge operated and was told... More

We were shouted a trip by our sons for my wife's birthday. Would certainly recommend & go back again. Was great to have no TV or telephone in the room & to sit on the terrace and listen to the birds, particularly the tuis drinking from the bird bath. Carolyn & Tom were very friendly, welcoming & helpful. The grounds... More

My Mum & I took advantage of an advertised offer for Sandpiper Lodge & I'm very pleased we did... After exploring Warkworth & enjoying lunch at Browns, the chocolate cafe, we arrived late afternoon to be greeted at Sandpiper Lodge by a very friendly group of chickens ... Carolyn saw us settled into our room & pointed us in the... More

We spent an idyllic weekend at Sandpiper in March 2012 and loved it so much, we went back a couple of weeks ago (September 2012). We stayed in one of the cottages, wonderful room, fantastic setting, very peaceful surroundings. Carolyn and Tom are wonderful hosts, incredibly friendly and very welcoming, they actually remembered us from our previous stay. Dinner was... More
