In July this month my wife Shelley and I had an overnight stay at Mindo Garden which was arranged by our host at B&B Tumbaco. Our previous knowledge of the cloud forest in the Mindo area was that it was an adventure sports area and noted for its birdlife, with many species which are not present in the Amazon forests... Mindo Garden was a wonderful place to stay! First, the location is wonderful, tucked into the jungle. Each room is in a little cabin, with the river just beyond. It is absolutely peaceful to sleep to at night. I will warn, there are lots of bugs outside, but that comes with being in the jungle! The staff were amazingly accomodating.... More

Mindo Gardens is around 20min out of town but worth it for the gorgeous scenery and wildlife. We stayed for 3 nights in a hut alongside the river amongst the beautiful gardens. Walks in the forest directly in and from the property are very enjoyable. We saw hummingbirds and toucans at the lodge. The restaurant food quality is high and... More

Really enjoyed the bungalow in the cloud forest of Mindo. It was a nice distance away from the hustle and bustle, and noise of downtown Mindo, and the walk to the resort was filled with bird sounds, orchids and other assorted flowers, and a sense that you were in a unique place. The property itself is a showcase of flowers... More

Came across this beautiful property and lodge at the end of the road. The owner invited us to stroll the trails on the property. We did and returned for a delicous lunch: trout with lemon butter and vegetables at a reasonable price. Sitting outside next by the gurgling mindo river Was very picturesque!

We didn't stay here but had dinner one night. We (four of us) were the only guests in the restaurant. To summarize, we had a great and truly memorable meal. Everyone tried a different menu item and all were more than satisfied with what they got. Mindo Garden is several km out of town and I'm guessing that not many... More

Fantastic sums it up. Remote clarifies it. Great value. Ivan, the manager will take care of you. Expensive to get to... taxi $125 if you use Mindo Garden driver from Quito airport... probably worth it. Again... it's remote. BUS Back to Quito recommended... cheap, comfortable, etc. Tours are good in the area. NOT amazing... but, well worth the small prices.... More

My wife and I spent a wonderful night here after 2 days in Baños. If only it could have been the other way around! This hotel is an idyllic retreat after the touristy atmosphere prevalent in some other Ecuadorian destinations. We had our own car so I can't speak to the difficulty of getting here, but whatever the requirements it's... More

After a nice drive from Quito we found ourselves totally removed from the outside world which was exactly what we were looking for. When we arrived we greeted warmly by the two hosts in the main house who showed us to our cottage which was right on the Mindo River. Both of our rooms were upstairs. We found the entire... More

Mindo Gardens was right in the middle of the jungle and next to Mindo river which can be very loud if you are staying in a cottage on the rivers edge. Accommodation is sparse and for our two night stay, the room was not attended nor rubbish removed. Unfortunately we did not have any water at all on our second... More
