This is an amazing place. From the cabins to the restaurant, you will find details galore. Don't miss the washroom in the restaurant. It is a must see. The food is great and healthy. Our cabin was by the river, and we listen to the beautiful sound of the water. I can't wait to go back some day.

Romantic location, lodgings first class and still rustic, company-owner, cook, guide etc wonderful. Other guests interesting. Getting to the lodge across the river with the cable car gives a real feeling of privacy. Cabanas and furniture hand crafted from tropical hardwoods, hand painted windows, decorator touches everywhere. Privacy. 6 cabanas. We had 2 cabanas, each had one room with a... More

Incredible trip! Our cabin was clean and comfortable and the food was delicious. All of the staff is kind and accommodating, and we had a great time on our activities (waterfall hike and butterfly farm. In hindsight, I wish we had done bird watching, too.) It's a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere and feels like you are part of the lodge family,... More

This turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Ecuador. Mindo itself is great for birdwatching and an ideal destination to combine with Quito, the Amazon & the Galapagos. You can get there relatively quickly on the Main Highway but for scenery and birdwatching along the way, I would recommend the "Eco Ruta" road from Quito... More

Incredible location in the middle of the cloud rainforest next to the Mindo River. You are surrounded by incredible bird life and hiking trails on and near the property. We spent four weeks in Ecuador (three nights at El Monte) and the meals served here were the best. Everything was made from scratch and tasted delicious. The owners and staff... More

We stayed at El Monte in January for 3 nights. After a week in the galapagos with tours every day we were ready for some down time and this was perfect. Lodge and rooms: is absolutely beautiful-open air with soaring beams, fireplace and outdoor dining. every room its its own cabin/suite with some privacy between cabins. we could hear the... More

Several friends who travel extensively had highly recommended El Monte. They were right. Separated from realty and a dirt road about two miles from Mindo by a rope pulley chair that traverses a small river, the open air lodge is comprised of a long dining table, several sitting areas including an open fire place, kitchen and owners quarters above (constructed... I was lucky enough to stay at El Mindo in October 2014 for a few nights. I was expecting something amazing but this far exceeded my expectations. It was a serene and tranquil few days, taking in the sights and sounds of the cloud forest. The arrival was unique and even though I had my concerns arriving on a seat... More

The Lodge is a mix of luxury and simplicity, of quality and purity. Perfectly built within a green and wild piece of land. It has the most original entrance you can imagine and gives you a good feel of the adventure that is waiting for you. If you don't mind a variety of bugs in your room, then this is... More

From the moment you arrive over the pulley bridge you know you are somewhere special. The welcome from Jon and Cheryl (who were house-sitting) made us feel immediately home, and it was exactly what you want from an eco-lodge - good, home-cooked food, largely from the gardens. Compared to the next lodge which stayed in, to which 'eco' seemed a... More
