The first thing to note about this lodge is its amazing setting on the shores of an almost mosquito-free lake. The architecture is in keeping with the surroundings, as the buildings are made from wood and bamboo and are only 1 storey high, so the lodge does not look or feel out of place in the middle of the jungle.... more

My wife and I, plus 2 friends stayed at the La Selva Jungle Lodge for 4 nights during April 2009 and in general, found the experience disappointing. We found the service of the guides and staff at the Lodge excellent, but the accommodation was pretty rough, even taking into account that the Lodge is in the middle of the Jungle.... more

We have spent the most amazing days of our vacation at La Selva Lodge 4days/5 nights. We wanted to experience the jungle and were not disappointed. The accommodation were exactly what we were hoping to find in the middle of the jungle: comfortable bed, bamboo and thatch roof, no mechanical noise during the night (only the wonderful sounds of the... more

Just spent 4N/5D at the lodge and absolutely loved it. If you arrive here thinking you are going to be pampered and have 5-star accommodations then you simply didn't do your homework. It is clean, comfortable, and surrounded by absolute beauty. If you have complaints about bugs and/or rodents in your room, then you probably left something open or out... more

Some of the reviews here do make me giggle!! This is a rustic lodge built of local materials in the heart of the Amazon Jungle!!! So yes, there is no electricity overnight, so that fuel (transported by boat) is not wasted and the generator does not obscure the amazing night time sounds of the jungle! And yes, you may get... more

Having just returned from La Selva I feel I must at least warn others of what they are taking on. There is no electricity between the hours of 10.30pm and 5.30am hence no ceiling fan, no light and no running water as this is pumped from the river. Our hut had gaps in every wall and a 2 inch gap... more

When planning our Honeymoon, I really wanted to go somewhere different and somewhere we both had not been before. When my future husband first mentioned the Amazon, I thought he was crazy. BUT, after looking at A LOT of other options, I came back to this idea and found La Selva. After looking through their website and talking with a... more

You can imagine my surprise that anyone could be disgruntled by the staff at La Selva. I happened to be in Quito during the event in question and had a chance to discuss it with office staffers when I went there to pay for the trip for myself and my family. They showed only the deepest concern, explained the cataclysm... more

My family's trip to La Selva Jungle Lodge got off to a rocky start. The plane scheduled to fly from Quito to Coca crashed on takeoff. After the pilot aborted his second attempt at takeoff, we skidded off the runway, plowed through the airport runway landing equipment and crashed through a brick wall into a parking lot. While I recognize... more

This was by far the best place in the world i have ever been to. I have been to many other places in third world countries but the hospitality and service i received at La Selva was by far the best. Many times i always questioned the security of these kind of places but from experience i can now say... more
