When we stayed at the hotel, a choir held a very good concert. Together with the service we received from the (bar) waiter one evening that was the good part. Service level of reception was poor; more or less neglected us upon arrival. Room were clean but general impression was that a renovation seemed overdue. if possible, try the (Iberostar?)hotel... The hotel is almost luxury compared to other hotels in Cuba, but a bit of renovation could be nice e.g. the door to our children's room deadlocked and we had to get the staff to break it up. A bit scary. The breakfast is really good. It is not easy to swim in the ocean close to the hotel, as... More

We satyed in the Jagua for two nights as part of a G Adventure trip. I have to say I really liked this hotel, perhaps my favourite of my time in Cuba. It has lovely rooms with great views of Cienfuegos and the sea, a really relaxing place to sit and watch sunset. It has a great pool area, a... More

I was recently in Cuba for a "people to people" tour with Gate 1 Travel. We had 21 people in our group so several stayed in the annexes across the street which have been recently renovated. Unfortunately our room in the main hotel was not renovated and I do not the ink the bathroom had been thoroughly cleaned since Castro... More

My wife and I were in for a real treat for our first evening in Cienfuegos, Cuba. We had a great barbecue meal at Hotel Jagua's outdoor courtyard. The featured part of the dinner was a roasted pig. The accompaniments included rice & beans, potatoes, salads, cheese, bread, rice pudding and other delicious sides, as well as a great live... More

this is a review of the annex , the Cassa Verde not the main hotel. Beautiful room. Large and comfortable. Lovely until we went across the road to the main hotel for breakfast. Crowded with a selection of unappetising food. Swimming pool old and tired. However the location is good and for the quality of the room most things could... More

For Cuba, this is not a bad hotel. We stayed in the annex and it worked out fine. We were part of a Gate 1 group on a Face to Face Cuba trip. Our group dinner was wonderful. They roasted a whole pig and the music group was wonderful. The next night we had a terrible Cuban sandwich in the... More

This hotel was a Government owned establishment that I believe had been built by the Russians in earlier times and very basic in need of refurbishment. The swimming pool was OK with a bit of floating debris. We were eating out some of the time but required the odd snack on returning from an excursion in the evening only to... More

Although we used the main Hotel Jagua building for our meals, my group was actually allocated rooms across the road I the private house annex of the hotel which was superb. This part of the hotel has 9 bedrooms and we had run of the place and the privacy was great. The rooms were very clean and comfortable as was... More
