We stayed at this beautiful establishment about a decade ago, and recalled everything - the breakfast facility and food, the lodging and surroundings, and the dining experience to be luxurious and very appealing. With high expectations, we recently went back, this time with good friends. The price of a package of two nights with breakfast, vouchers for several house tours... More

My wife and I stayed for a weekend at Monmouth. All of the staff were courteous and friendly. The rooms and grounds were terrific. We walked around and relaxed on the manicured property. We ate dinner and breakfast at Monmouth also. The meals were excellent.

We loved the Miss Eliza suite. A romantic, truly southern getaway and start to 2015. The deep bathtub and his/her bathrooms were amazing. The decor mad you feel as if you were back in time. Very classic and elegant. We cannot wait to go back.

Thank you! We love the Miss Eliza Suite, too, and are happy you were able to start 2015 the way you wished. We strive to bring the past to life for our guests - yet provide the modern amenities to which we've become accustomed. We look forward to seeing you back. :) More

We arrived in April, a week after the conclusion of the Natchez Spring Pilgrimage. We stayed in the John Quitman room for our honeymoon. The room, which is on a wing of the main house, is furnished with period antiques, including the full canopied poster bed owned by John Quitman, the former owner. The initial response of my bride, "This... More

Wow! Thank you for your wonderful review; we were able to bring to you exactly what we strive for - beauty, joy, romance, great service, tranquility & more. We are thrilled that your visit to Monmouth reminded you of Downton Abbey; it's one of our favorite shows as well. Thank you for the compliment. You definitely "get" Monmouth, which pleases... More

We stayed here a few years ago and management has changed since that time. We found the all of the staff to be quite friendly. We stayed in a garden room and it was also nice and clean. (On our previous visit we'd been in the main house). I think the new owners benefit from the previous remodel as it's... More

Thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor. As an employee who has been here for 20 years, I would like to let you know a little about the new owners of Monmouth. You stated they were benefitting from the “previous remodel” and that the property is just being “maintained”. When they acquired Monmouth they immediately began remodeling the guest... More

The inn is based in an old house which certainly has some character and the gardens are very pleasant. However that doesn't make somewhere a great hotel. The bar and lounge seemed little used and this was partly due to their rather claustrophobic atmosphere which is perhaps caused by it's listed status which presumably makes it impossible to open up... We had never been to Natchez and decided to visit this past weekend for Pilgrimage. The homes that visited on the tours were each unique with their own unique pasts. That was also true for Monmouth, a wonderful home with a great place in history. However as an inn it just doesn't measure up. We stayed in a suite and... More

Wonderful experience in a truly historic house. Staff was exceptionally courteous and helpful. Great place for a romantic getaway. Dinner was elegant, and the mint juleps at the bar were a real treat.

I wouldn't normally stay at such a nice hotel, on this occasion I thought I'd splurge a little and it was really worth it. Such a nice hotel, they really made us feel welcome from the second we got there. Great historic building located on nice big luxurious well kept grounds. The room itself was deluxe, we were in the... More

we stayed here for two nights whist exploring the Mississippi area. It is a beautiful antebellum house in this potentially interesting town. The hospitality was spoiled by never meeting the same member of staff twice, very expensive and very average food and drink. Apparently the hotel has absentee owners; it showed. The best service came from a cheerful bellhop/handyman (Hal?)... More
