We had one of the suites overlooking the Mississippi. It was large and allowed access to a huge common area used for parties, but sadly, stairs around the property are run down, grass isn't cut, weeds climb structures and there are similar signs of poor maintenance. Breakfasts are great, but they do not make up for the run-down feeling of... More

Difficult to find, had the room keys taped to the office door with no one else around. Seems to me they could keep some one there from 3 to 5 to check people in. Only three rooms occupied on the weekend, so it was very quiet but seemed desolate. Breakfast just OK and a brief tour of the Briars but... More

When my sister and I arrived at The Briars, an hour before the office was to close, we found our room keys tapped to the office door with a note to take the stairs to our room. It took us 20 minutes to find the right house and room. The place was empty. There were no other guests. The door... More

We stayed at The Briars for the annual pilgrimage and were not disappointed. Glenda the chef made an amazing breakfast for us every morning which included the best grits I've ever eaten. I'm a true southerner so this means allot as I've been eating grits my whole life. The property is expansive and we enjoyed walking through the various trails... More

This was my 2nd time to stay at The Briars. First time I traveled with girlfriends & we stayed inside the mansion & our rooms were perfect. My last trip was with my husband & grandson & we stayed in the carriage house which might be my favorite between the two. We loved sitting on our own private porch looking... More

First, we were booked in the wrong type of room. However, the room was large but didn't have the fridge my husband wanted or the river view. Second, my husband looked all over for an ice machine but couldn't fond one or an attendant anywhere. Third, i would have expected the grounds in better shape since it was the start... More

We opted to purchase the Bucks & Belles Package. This was our second time staying at this B&B and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is absolutely amazing. With this package, you are served dinner and the first night we had steaks that were cooked perfect and the second night we had homemade fried chicken!! The breakfast is a hearty... More

Although I am a hobbyist at best in the Photography department; I spent hours...literally hours, scouring every square inch of the property. The changes of light from the sun from sun up to sun down changes the entire property. Nestled in corners, and down stairs you can find urns and statues and other hidden away gems. I have never stayed... More
