This was my family's second visit to The Royal, Comrie for a meal. Both times we were delighted, a lovely delicious meal after a beautiful walk. The service both times was amazing, Scott was our waiter both times & he was just a joy, a great understanding of the menu, a very attentive, cheerful young man. Brilliant, definitely recommend it... We have visited The Royal for many years probably like so many of their customers. However, the over riding opinion from our group thought that the food was disappointing this year. The menu was poorly presented on poor quality paper which had clearly been used for some time. The food itself was okay, portion size has decreased and the choice... More

I always wanted to stay at the Royal, having eaten there a couple of times and enjoyed both food and atmosphere. Sadly by the time my wish came true the hotel seemed to have gone sharply into decline. As the photos reveal, the room would have shamed a Travelodge. It was filthy, neglected and sad. The mattress was lumpy, old... More

We had a terrific stay in this little hotel in Comrie. Our room looked over the bridge into town, the staff made us feel at home and the meals were great. It was a fantastic spot to spend a few days and explore the country side.

We stayed in a nearby cottage and ate first night at the Royal. Excellent pint (or three) of real ale, a good wine list and a decent selection of whiskies. We ate in the bar as the restaurant was full. I had one of the best kedgeree's that I have ever had although it seems almost unfair to single it... More

This July, I visited the Royal Hotel together with my son (17 years). It was a spur of the moment decision as the original plan was to stay at the Dunkeld Hilton. But the Hilton proved to be too large and too impersonal for my taste, so we changed tack. The Royal Hotel was recommended to us by the owners... More

Charming, very clean hotel with personable staff and good food but it was not value for money compared to other hotels we have stayed in. Whilst dressing gowns in the bathroom and home made biscuits were a nice touch, the room was very small , the shower head did not attach properly, there was no proper dressing table and a... More

The Royal is a lovely hotel in a really great setting but I've been going there for some time now and it could be so much better. The food is such a disappointment, very ordinary and uninspiring and I also think the ambience could be improved - sometimes the atmosphere in the lounge bar is plain dull. Up until now... More

This hotel is in a very lovely, older building. It has charm and gentility. There is clearly a loyal guest base, as several departing guests were noted to be well known to reception staff. The staff was warm and engaging and quite personable. The building might benefit from a freshen-up, but it was not by any means less than comfortable.... More
