We didn't actually stay overnight at the hotel just had a drink before the Hogmanay celebrations started but wished we had stayed. Beautiful hotel and lovely people who allowed us to warm up before the celebrations started. I am Scottish but my family are New Zealanders so wanted a good Hogmanay evening and we were not disappointed.

Lovely surroundings for a pleasant meal or delightful stay in a model village. The public areas, dining areas, lounge/library, bar and rooms are all charming and beautifully decorated. An absolute joy.

Our latest trip to see family in Comrie saw us staying here again for three nights. Our room was spacious and clean, with a pretty comfortable bed - and breakfast was excellent as ever. Not sure that you can ask for much more - except perhaps a lower price?!

The hotel is set in the small scenic town of Comrie in the midst of the Perthshire country side. The hotel has had recent renovations and the interior is a mixture of modern cream walls and stripped wood floors, with period furniture and fittings. Loads of comfortable sofas, open fires and books and magazines. The staff are very accommodating and... More

A great spot to spend an evening. Décor just perfect, reflecting homely, classic Scottish traditions - please don't change it! Log fire, choice of dining areas and two bars. Library for total peace and quiet. Food excellent, although can be a little slow on delivery. Mulled wine on offer just now: a little too sweet unfortunately, but still good value.... More

Stayed just the one Friday night with friends in this very traditional but well maintained and comfortable hotel nestling in the heart of Strathearne, Perthshire. A warm, courteous welcome at reception followed by directions to a tastefully decorated en-suite room. We enjoyed pre-dinner drinks, (Cocktail night!), in the comfortable lounge bar with its glorious open fire - perfect on a... More

Spent two nights at The a Royal and when we walked in immediately felt the warm and welcoming atmosphere our dog was welcome too. Get comfy in front of the fire in the lounge and you wouldn't want to move, especially on a winters evening. Food was excellent, the room was nice but could benefit from a bit of updating... More

The hotel far exceeds expectations. On arrival we were upgraded to a four poster room. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was fantastic. Excellent choice and good prices, quality was superb. Will definitely stay here again.

We found the hotel to be very pleasant, nice atmosphere and helpful staff. Well situated in a lovely area. Comfortable and characterful lounge area. Breakfast was very nice but can't comment on the restaurant as we didn't eat there. The reason for not giving a better rating was the presence of black mould on the windows - not just in... More

This is a review of the food at The Royal (not the accommodation - we weren't staying) as we thought we'd give it a second chance having had such a disappointing experience last time. Oh dear, it still flatters to deceive. Why does such a lovely looking hotel hide a cuisine capability that fails to match either it's AA or... More
