After a bad experience at a hotel across the road from the Shaven Crown the previous night , this place was a breath of fresh air. Good parking, good location , quiet, very friendly and extremely clean. Our room for only £10.00 more for an upgrade was one of the larger doubles, reasonably priced and had a large bathroom. Breakfast... More

Sunday lunch visit today to celebrate a 'big' birthday - beautiful setting - sympathetically decorated. Lunch menu quite extensive and reasonably priced, very well presented plates - we were a table of six and we were all exceptionally happy with our lunch. My only criticism (well It's me and constructive criticism is a good thing!) the table really wasn't big... More

Dear Jojo-Gogo 1961 Thank you so much for your review. We have taken your comments about the table on board. I am, however, chuffed to bits that your Mother in Law had a lovely birthday and that your all enjoyed your lunch. Kind regards Evelyn Roberts More

Had a couple of nights here and I so wanted to love it. The building was beautiful, recently refurbished and in a lovely little village. The bar, dining room and entrance was tastefully decorated and even the bedroom, although quite small, was lovely, comfy bed, nice TV, all the furniture in keeping with the age and style of this property.... Dear Elaine H, Thank you for your honest review. I agree that the bathroom isn't up to scratch and we have changed the shower curtain. The refurbishment of the 3 basic rooms is on the cards for this coming January which will improve them immensely. I am, however, pleased you enjoyed rest of the hotel. Kind regards Evelyn More

Dear Jill D, I do apologise that the bathroom is not up to standard which is why we call it a basic room. Even if the bathrooms don't look like much I can assure that they get a cleaned on a daily basis. However I am pleased that you thought the staff and the food were fantastic. Kind regards Evelyn... We did not stay here but close by.We stopped in for an afternoon tea after walking the area. There is a nice moderate walk close by, through some Iron gates .It takes you under the trees to a pond.About 20 minutes. The folks were so pleasant we decided to eat in the restaurant later, which was excellent. It is an extremely interesting... More

This hotel is definitely a work in progress, but there is much to praise. Fantastic building - the hotel dates back to Middle Ages Great location in fascinating village (church 5 minute walk away is a gem and many interesting buildings make this a classic Cotswold village) Excellent food Good service Owners care about their work and the building Public... Dear qferryman, Thank you for your very good review. I totally agree that the bathrooms are not up to scratch but, like you mentioned, they will be done early next year. It is why we call them basic rooms. Due to the listed status of this building we are very limited in what we can do to it so double... More

The building was beautiful; very modern with a nod to old features. Hosts couldn't do more for you and to top the one night's stay off, a beautifully cooked breakfast! Very relaxed feel and somewhere I would definitely go back. Thank you.

Hosts were delightful. This property has been beautifully renovated and respectfully modernized. Breakfast was lovely and set us up for day, we didn't get a chance to sit and eat again until 10pm! That's how well our breakfast sustained us!! Thanks

A pretty, old, classical building, with an attractive frontage onto a fairly busy A road, and a lovely courtyard to the rear. The overall feel is that the (relatively new) owners have already spent a fortune financially and emotionally on the place, and are lovely people. Our bedroom was very smart, and lacked a few basic toiletries, and staples, e.g.... More

Dear The RoliingMcStones, I am so sorry you didn't rate your stay as much as I would have liked. We don't put bottled water in the rooms because the tap water is perfectly fine to drink, however I will take you other suggestions on board. When we refurbished the building we wanted the interior to be a perfect mix between... More

The main areas of this wonderful building have been treated with a modern twist which has taken nothing away from the unique14th century building. The evening meal though very good was maybe a little too gastronomic in style. Breakfast though had a wonderful choice of hot and cold food and as the dining area overlooks the court yard it is...
