As quoted "you get what you pay for" ... its no luxurious 5 stars but it offers a warm welcome, its cosy and we couldn't complain from the service we had. The hotel doesn't offer any breakfast but you will be provided with tokens that entitle you to a full english breakfast at a nearby cafe..just 5 mins walk away... More

I often stay at the George Hotel when overnighting near Stansted Airport and have done so since 2001. It is a charming old coaching inn and for that reason is unevenly floored, as one might expect. The George does not offer breakfast anymore but it does offer vouchers for breakfast at a local and very acceptable cafe, sited some thirty... More

Not a nice hotel, but at £45 in the very centre of town it's hard to expect much more. Rooms are tired and the whole place needs renovating. Bed not comfy but no noise outside on a Friday night so slept fine.

Pokey, nasty, uneven floored, dirty hotel with unfriendly staff - if you can find them. I took photos to show how bad it was before the following happened; I got up in the morning, went for a shower and the shower unit dismantled in my hands. We left promptly but no-one was on reception to tell of our incident. We... More

Had booked in to stay here for two nights to go to a wedding which was near by. I really do not know where to start but I was woken at 2.30 am by the most terrible noises, shouts, screams, door knocking, doors banging etc. This went on until 3.45 am in rooms both side of me. I was a... More

OK, I made the cardinal mistake and forgot to check Trip Advisor before I booked this hotel, the reviews would of stopped me from booking, but the room was ok'ish for £45 per night. I had one of the rooms on the top floor and these seemed quieter than the rest. It does feel like a doss house and I... More

Hi there, just got back from working at stansted for the week, unfortunately me and three work mates were booked into this so called hotel for the duration at a cost of just under £1200 ! It was prebooked otherwise we would have walked out upon arrival as the reception was a filthy hovel with leather chairs with holes in... More

Booked this for a business trip because I needed to be in Bishop's Stortford. The website Description gives a false impression of a comfortable,18th century town centre pub with rooms. In fact the pub had been sold to the Prezzo restaurant chain and the rooms above have obviously been bought by two men who call it a hotel and have... More
