Booked to stay at The George as attending a party in Central Bishop's Stortford - worst hotel experience ever! The room left a lot to be desired, small and poorly designed with mould on the ceiling and shower tray. I accepted this but when it was time to go to bed I discovered the bed was actually broken and one... More

Misled as described on this site and booking.com as a Hotel. It is just bedrooms rooms, mine (9) was noisy and dirty with exposed wiring, no breakfast you are directed to a cafe in the town. I feel let down by the Property and sites like this one which are misleading people.

I stayed here for a weekend on business. The hotel had been booked for a group of us via our office and, to be honest, I was wary after reading reviews on here. However, bearing in mind that this is a basic hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of accommodation and service. I assume there has been a... More

It really is exactly like every 1* review says. Stayed on business for two nights. The idea you would come here with your wife or family is beyond belief. Noisy (especially from the club over road every night), dirty, uncomfortable - but worse still a very unpleasant atmosphere... The only other residents I ever saw were groups of surly builders,... Dirty can never be forgiven in a hotel. Dirty carpet, dirty furniture with coffee marks, dirty bathroom floor, and I confess I had a good look at the bedsheets before I got in. Smelly. Poorly lit. Noisy. Cheap mattress. TV broken. Poor check in service. Shall I continue? No wifi. Grubby walls. Poorly lit. Did I mention smelly? To be... More

After reading the reviews of the hotel after I had been booked into this Hotel I was a bit sceptical, but as I was only staying one night and really only using it as a hotel room ie Showering and Sleeping, I thought that I would still go ahead and stay there. On arrival, in the reception area, all the... More

My wife and I stayed four nights and were wary due to the bad reports we´d read, but we kept an open mind. On arrival, an Asian gentleman who spoke excellent English checked us in and carried our cases upstairs. Our second floor room was a little small for a double but clean, recently decorated, and there was no evidence... More

Booked this hotel based on its location as we were visiting friends in the town, I thought as downstairs had recently been refurbished so had the hotel, I was wrong. The check in was simple and quick, we found our double room easily. The room was spacious but very tired, it was too warm with no heating control available, the... More

NEVER stay here unless you want a hostel and you only pay cash. They didn't have my booking. They then claimed to have had a cancellation which it later transpired was them giving away my friends' room! The rooms are dirty pokey and basic, the windows hang off, there is NO reception area, the door is unlocked all night so... More
