I was surprised when we arrived in the town/ city of Zafra as there is so much more to it than I had imagined . I am so glad we strolled around the narrow cobbled streets . The Parador itself is an amazing building full of history . Once inside the entrance there is a wonderful open air courtyard with... More

This is a stunning building with undoubtedly a very promising courtyard. However, it was chilly in the courtyard when the outside temperature was in the high 20s, so it must be freezing in the winter. Leaving the courtyard, we were rather overwhelmed by an unpleasant smell on the way to our room - 108. The room was dingy with dirty... More

The hotel is located in the beautiful medieval city of Zafra, in the Extremadura region of Spain. I am a big fan of Spain's state-run Parador system, and this one fully met my expectations. The building is a beautifully restored medieval fortress, but with all the comforts of a modern hotel. The room was spacious and, as in all the... More

We first stayed in the Parador in the early 1990's and this was our 3rd visit since that initial encounter with the place. Let me say that, all the little complaints made on this site aside, it is a priviledge to stay in this amazing bulding. Originally the Moorish Alcazar, it was, in the 14th c. re-constructed as the residence... More

This place is beautiful, magnificent castle come to life at night under the floodlights. So glad we discovered it.have just read other reviews and clearly many people have same opinion. Noticed in one review it was mentioned that "staff speak little English " of course that is true , it is because we are in Spain and generally people here... More

As other reviewers have said, this is a stunning hotel in a castle built in the 1450s. If you are staying or visiting Zafra this is a must. After entering the parador you walk through into a stunning open air courtyard with a fountain the middle . The room are well appointed and comfortable. As with all paradors the breakfast... More

WE stayed here for two nights. Breakfast was excellent. It rained during our stay and it was fascinating to see the was the rainwater was colleceted from above the patio. Reception very helpful with advice on parking. Room very comfortable if a little noisy. This is a historic building in a historic part of Zafra, unfortunately the pool was closed during... More

The town of Zafra is beautifull but the Parador is amazing. Very good restaurant. The staff speak little English but it caused no problem. Lovely swimming pool. The central area for coffee and snacks and meals is just beautiful

Only spent a day at Zafra but, this parador made wish I had booked a few extra days to enjoy it. The building itself is a must see in Zafra. The city and people are nice and the food is good. Regarding facilities, bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was average.

Historic building with an exceptional courtyard restaurant. Outdoor pool with changing facilities. The "twin bedded" (adjacent beds) are more spacious than the doubles. Our standard room was lovely and had a small balcony overlooking the ancient square. Very comfortable bed. Corridors furnished with antiques befitting its history, making the place quite atmospheric. Parking is in the square at the front... More
