Our room in Parador de Zafra was really something special. The walls were so thick that inside the window there was a niche with a size like “ a small hotel room in London!”. Please ask for a room in the old part of the hotel when booking. Just outside we strolled around in the cosy white town of Zafra.... more

Definitely among the best of the many impressive buildings used by the Parador chain, with a gorgeous internal patio. Park in the Plaza C. Maria in front of the Parador (NW corner of old town) and pay them 4 euros a day. The building itself makes a stay worthwhile, but Zafra also has much to offer for a short visit,... more

Have visited Zafra on more than one occasion and have previously stayed in the very comfortable and quiet Huerta Honda Hotel , which is opposite the Parador. Decided to try the Parador on this visit - it is a beautiful hotel and an afternoon by the pool was very relaxing. Our room was fine - not very large but everything... more

Zafra was an excellent base being just off the main superb motorway running North-South from Merida to Seville. It is also a pleasant town with variety. The Parador is well positioned and you can park in the square directly in front of the main entrance for Euros 4. We were told that the hotel itself collects the Parking fee on... more

Stayed at this Parador in late March 2008. The weather was a bit cold and breezy. Our room overlooked the square at the front of the parador and was very good. The other areas of the parador were excellent as it is a grand old building which has been well restored and has excellent central courtyard. The highlight of the... more

Zafra is a small Spanish town of just over 15,000 residents. It retains a certain charm while still feeling lively and active. The Parador, as you probably know, is a former 15th century castle. The rooms, however, are decidedly 21st century. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Our room did not have the most scenic view (interior courtyard), but it provided... more

We were travelling south toward Andalucia and needed a stop-over which left us a relatively short run on the following day to Ronda. This is a converted monastery with a delightful courtyard in which we had dinner (see photographs). The hotel has a sizeable swimming pool behind the hedge on the street side. Parking is in the square for which... more

The castle is now the parador, with the name of Hernan Cortes. It has ample parking in front of the building. Our room was good. The patio was the former courtyard, and is impressive in size and style, because it has the style of the renaissance. The form is square, with graceful arches built over columns. This arcade continues to... more

A spacious parador in an exquisite building in a delightful town. A good dining experience was only marred by the open warfare between the maitre d' and the overworked auxilliary staff. That buns weren't thrown was a triumph of exhaustion over exasperation. By the end of the meal, which was delightful, we had managed to extract a smile from both... more
