We were driving Route 66 and were behind schedule. I checked the guidebook and this was located at the next exit (about 25 miles away). I called the Chevron station, they said they had a room and when she said there was no phone or Wifi - I laughed and said it was ok. I wasn't going there for wifi... More

we were driving all day and on the way from arizona it was the first motel after 2 hours. If we hadn't been that tired, we would have better driven further. And I suggest you do the same. No fridge, no breakfast, a really old TV, not really clean, not really safe, lies between rail- and highway

We stayed here, intentionally, on the first night of our Route 66 trip from California to Chicago. No wifi, but the room was clean, if old. We got free coffee and soft drinks from the gas station when we checked in and again when we checked out. Also got 10% off at the Ludlow Cafe next door by showing our... More

This was great value for the money. We were informed that there was no WiFi, so accepted that. Free coffee at the Chevron service station for guests was good. Clean bathroom, comfortable bed. Great for a stopover. Glad to have somewhere to stay.

As many other reviews said, this motel provides the bare minimum. We were traveling Route 66 and discovered that this was the only motel between Needles and Barstow, which are around 150 miles apart, so the Ludlow was really the only choice we had. After a few endlessly ringing phone calls we started to worry that we wouldn't even be... More

This is a no frills hotel at California I-40 Exit 50. There is no WIFI, no hotel staff of any kind, the door is an ordinary residential door that does not self-lock. The office is not staffed so you check-in at the Chevron across the street. This is my second stay and I like it fine. There is a diner... More

My wife and I stayed one night at this hotel to get an early start on a day of exploring in Mojave National Preserve. As the title of the review states, it is a clean, inexpensive, no frills place to stay - closest lodging we could find to Mojave Preserve. Most $50 a night hotels are to be avoided like... More

There aren't really a lot of lodging options when you're visiting the Mojave Desert. We stumbled upon this one. We were happy to find an affordable place that had rooms available. The rooms look like they haven't been touched in 50 years. There was a new flatscreen TV with cable. The windows are very thin and rattle a little. My... More

Free Porridge/Tea/Coffee!!! What more could you ask for? How about double locks on every door, an original 'Scorpion' painting on the wall, and authentic, 70's hanging lights (red bulb) in every room? The Ludlow has it all. Initial misgivings were soon removed by the friendly staff and exceptional range of hats, keyrings and candy on offer in the convenient on-site... More
