I endorse all the previous comments about this hotel - and in fact, all Paradors. Having now stayed in 6 of them, I realise that they share a few common drawbacks. First of all, it is impossible to get anything to eat before 8.30 pm; secondly it is impossible to get a cup of coffee outside restaurant and bar hours;... More

Spent two nights in the Parador last week. Spectacular reconstruction of a large mediaeval convent complete with authentic mediaeval and renaissence art and furniture and some clever reproductions. The interior architect deserves a prize. The room was spacious, warm and the beds excellent. A very modern bathroom with lots of hot water. We didn't try the dining room preferring to... More

We were driving from Vilamoura in the Algarve on the way to Santander and had booked into a hotel in Plasencia, on arrival we found out its car park was across the road which meant we would have had to unload the car completely, I looked at my sat nav to find hotels close by the Parador Hotel was less... The Parador, as usual, is in an excellent location just a short walk from the main square. The building itself is superb, good size bedrooms (aka cells!). If you stay in summer there is an outside pool. Parking is available underground via a lift but beware if you have an extraordinary long vehicle as my Ford Mondeo Estate only just... More

We did not expected such a nice place for a weekend. The old medieval nunnery was restored with all the original details to its magnificent former glory. This monumental building was also known to house the very first university in Extremadura during the XV century. The rooms are ample and the decoration is austere but very comfortable and immaculate clean... More

We were told that the Parador of Plasencia is one of the very best, but we still got a surprise. Housed in an old nunnery, the rooms are still called cells. That though is where any pretense of austerity ends. Three adults in a double room is usually a squeeze, but not in Pasencia! We received a room with lovely... More

Over the years we must have stayed in more than half of the Paradores Nacionales in Spain and, as such, consider ourselves reasonable experts on the chain as a whole. On a trip from Bilbao to Andalusia we needed a convenient overnight stay in the Plasencia area and chose the parador. Our choice was a good one.The receptionist was most... More

Stayed one night Monday 22nd September en route to Seville. Stunning conversion of a 15th century nunnery to a clean, comfortable hotel with all modern amenities. Upgraded to a superior room. This was quite possibly the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in, lovely older style furnishings, a big bathroom, superb bed linen and pillows with two "juliet" style... More

One of our favourite paradors. Built around a large central cloister. The rooms are a good size, with good bathrooms, and plenty of places to lounge around. The hotel has been modernised enough to be comfortable, without losing its interiors. Much like the town itself, which has no single central attraction, but just has a lovely, and lively, old town.
