This Parador is staffed by unhelpful and unapproachable reception staff. The hotel is noisy with children running in the corridors and also playing football in the atrium. There are absolutely no concessions to the international traveller, this accommodation is designed around the Spanish way of life and its daily structure. Food in the evenings from 9 pm - who wants... More

This is a beautiful parador! The public rooms and galleries are breathtaking. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it very much. The rooms are a little dark and have heavy spanish furniture - which is to be expected, but the bathrooms are bright and quite modern. The restaurant was not at all bad, and the staff were very nice. The... More

Perfect half way stop from the Algarve. Beautiful Parador in an old Convent. It has a garage which you have to drive into a lift to get to but well worth paying for it. Two minutes walk to the Plaza Mayor which is lovely. Lots of bars/restaurants and of course shops.

This was an amazing 15th century monastery with thick stone walls and a wonderful stone staircase. Our room was very large and comfortable with a separate lounge area and two TVs! There were plenty of areas to sit around the spacious landings. We ate our breakfast in the large refectory with ancient tiled walls. The breakfast was excellent and there was... More

We only stayed here for one night and undoubtedly it was a perfectly ok hotel in a very spectacular setting. However, the whole experience was spoilt by a very unhelpful bar man who seemed intent on not serving us at all. We ended up eating in the restaurant rather than tapas and wine in the bar as he was totally... More

The hotel is located in an old convent and tryed to keep the ancient parts as it was. The room was very confortable ( I received an upgrade to a suíte ( more or les 70m² !!!!). The staff is really amazing and kind. The breakfast is excelente. The restaurant is nice and the food well elaborate. There is a... More

We have stayed in many many Paradors over the years and have never had reason to complain about any them until yesterday. We always have dinner when we stay but last night was a real disaster my sister and husband once had suckling pig in a Parador and I didn't. I was so envious and have always wanted to try... More

I endorse all the previous comments about this hotel - and in fact, all Paradors. Having now stayed in 6 of them, I realise that they share a few common drawbacks. First of all, it is impossible to get anything to eat before 8.30 pm; secondly it is impossible to get a cup of coffee outside restaurant and bar hours;... More

Spent two nights in the Parador last week. Spectacular reconstruction of a large mediaeval convent complete with authentic mediaeval and renaissence art and furniture and some clever reproductions. The interior architect deserves a prize. The room was spacious, warm and the beds excellent. A very modern bathroom with lots of hot water. We didn't try the dining room preferring to... More

We were driving from Vilamoura in the Algarve on the way to Santander and had booked into a hotel in Plasencia, on arrival we found out its car park was across the road which meant we would have had to unload the car completely, I looked at my sat nav to find hotels close by the Parador Hotel was less...
