We stop over for one night with our 10-month-old baby while on the way to the North of Spain, Overall, a very positive experience. The hotel is stunning, it's literally like spending the night inside a monument (as often the case with "Paradores" in Spain), and indeed this used to be an old medieval convent. The room was spacious, cosy... More

Old monastery turned into a high standard hotel. We were lucky to receive very large bedrooms with beautiful style. The service was excellent. The restaurant is located in a spectacular banquet room covered with azuelos. The food was very good, the staff very helpfull and the bill very gentle ! A place to return...

The experience at the Parador in Plasencia starts with the car elevator to get into the parking garage, continues with the friendly service at reception, followed by a guided tour into the history of the building when taken to the room and then, then you get to your nice room and feel at home in this former monastery (don't worry,... We stayed here during a road tour of Spain and trip between the UK and Canary Islands staying at Paradores along the route from North to South . I had stayed at this hotel before on a previous trip and was impressed with both the service , location , facilities and cuisine .We were again not disappointed , the staff... More

One of the snags with the medieval Spanish is that they didn't anticipate the arrival of the car! The parking is awkward at best and a BMW 3 series barely fits into the parking elevator. Oh and you'll have an assigned space it would be tricky to get a shopping cart into. But that's as bad as it gets. The... More

This Parador is staffed by unhelpful and unapproachable reception staff. The hotel is noisy with children running in the corridors and also playing football in the atrium. There are absolutely no concessions to the international traveller, this accommodation is designed around the Spanish way of life and its daily structure. Food in the evenings from 9 pm - who wants... More

This is a beautiful parador! The public rooms and galleries are breathtaking. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it very much. The rooms are a little dark and have heavy spanish furniture - which is to be expected, but the bathrooms are bright and quite modern. The restaurant was not at all bad, and the staff were very nice. The... More

Perfect half way stop from the Algarve. Beautiful Parador in an old Convent. It has a garage which you have to drive into a lift to get to but well worth paying for it. Two minutes walk to the Plaza Mayor which is lovely. Lots of bars/restaurants and of course shops.

This was an amazing 15th century monastery with thick stone walls and a wonderful stone staircase. Our room was very large and comfortable with a separate lounge area and two TVs! There were plenty of areas to sit around the spacious landings. We ate our breakfast in the large refectory with ancient tiled walls. The breakfast was excellent and there was... More

We only stayed here for one night and undoubtedly it was a perfectly ok hotel in a very spectacular setting. However, the whole experience was spoilt by a very unhelpful bar man who seemed intent on not serving us at all. We ended up eating in the restaurant rather than tapas and wine in the bar as he was totally... More
