We secured our campsite upon entering the park in the morning. There were plenty of sites, but most had zero shade and weren't very scenic. We only had a couple neighbors, and they were quiet. Morefield Campground is located 4 miles into the Mesa Verde National Park. Considering the vast size of this park, if a visitor wants to truly explore the park, it's essential to stay in the park. My husband and I both really loved this campground. We stayed four nights, and even got rained on, but we had a great time. The cost is reasonable, and there are lots of sites to choose from. Get there early in the day for a choice site, although most are good and shady. Clean restrooms, free showers, and a convenient location right there in the park. Don't miss the yummy and cheap pancake breakfast offered there. more
