Most of the rooms are located in small blocks. Our room had a balcony and was in a single story block, 2 minutes walk from the restaurant building. Although our room was dated and the shower was useless it was very pleasant and the beds were very comfortable. Our view was not the best available but was still beautiful. The... more

Obviously, we stayed here because we wanted to see Mesa Verde without having to make the long trip to the ruins from some location outside of the park. I could only get one kiva room for my wife and I. I got a two bed room for my teenage son and his friend. The kiva room was ok but I... more

We recently spent one night at the Far View Lodge in Mesa Verde National Park, and had a disappointing stay. Part of the issue was outside the control of the lodge, because it snowed on us (end of May!), which made the long hilly drive up to the lodge nerve wracking (we were on a motorcycle). However, I did not... more

After reading the previous reviews I was sure to book a KIVA room. I am glad we did! My friend didn’t and there IS a difference! The KIVA room was worth the cost difference! The Far View Lodge delivers what it promises… it definitely offers a far view! There are “wild” horses and deer that hang out around the lodge... more

We just finished a one-night stay in a Deluxe Pinon Room at the Farview Lodge at Mesa Verde, CO. Room had air conditioning, a balcony, king-size bed and was very roomy. Easy in-out with parking outside the door. This was our best experience at a National Park lodge; we've stayed at Yellowstone, Zion and Bryce Canyon. The food was VERY... more

There’s really no choice here; it’s a park service property so you get what you get – not a lot for a moderate amount of money. Ironically, in our compare and contrast with two other parks ( Grand Canyon El Tovar run by Xanterra and Canyon de Chelly in the Navajo Nation) the Far View came up way short. The... more

The standard room looked and felt like it hadn't been renovated since the 1960's, so go for the premium (refurbished) rooms if you can get one. The wifi works only in the main lodge lobby and was so painfully slow I gave up. No a/c in the room made for a stuffy night with only a desk fan to provide... more

I see there are plenty of reviews - but I just want to add a note or two. If you have kids, bring games to play in the evenings! There is pretty much zero to do at night here....the museum and visitor center closes pretty early and the drives close at sunset. The lobby is extremely limited...not much seating or... more

Stayed here 1 night. When I booked, I asked for a KIVA room based on reviews here on TA, but was told only PINION room or STANDARD was available. So I booked a PINION room, but when I checked in I was given a "deluxe" room (KIVA??)--so that is what my comments are based on. Anyway it was very nice,... more

Far View Lodge may be a classic example of how the Interior Department's policy of monopoly concessionaires in the national parks can sometimes just not work quite right. It is the only place to stay in Mesa Verde, and given that it takes a good 30-45 minutes to get to the Park sights from the main highway, and there are... more
