Set amongst caves, almond and olive groves, we converted our 16th century farmhouse into a charming guesthouse. On 2 floors we have 8 double bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, 2 living rooms (one with an open fire) and a communal kitchen. Adjoining the house you can relax in our bodega. There are 3 terraces with fountains and an open air swimming pool in the summer to complete your stay. Alongside the house there is an 18th century olive oil mill which is open for guided tours. The original machinery is still in working order although only operated for purposes of demonstration. We are 55km from Granada, famous for the Alhambra, and 100km from the coast of Almeria. The surrounding area has seen many civilizations, amongst them Roman and Moorish. Evidence of this can be seen in the Roman ruins of Guadix and Arab baths in Graena for example. You will be fascinated by the lunatic landscape near Paulenca which is called the Badlands. Ideal for families and groups of friends.

A good meal in this converted olive mill was brought to a happy conclusion with a wonderful flamenco performance. It was recommended to us by the owners of the hotel where we were staying and was a truly wonderful experience. It was a little warm in the room as September was unusually hot and so we left earlier than we would have liked and the service was a little slow towards the end so we passed on sweet, but otherwise, great! We really enjoyed the performanceby the extremely talented musicians and dancer.

The music was fabulous. The guitar playing absolutely top notch. The singer and dancer were amazing. The food was average and the service was slow which is not a problem but the food was a disappointment. The music is only on a Saturday evening though so I would not bother on any other evening. I would make an effort to go and hear the Flamenco.

I stayed for an evening in a wonderful 17th century Olive Oil farm. It still has the old olive oil press. The hotel has been left with a lot of the charm from the time with big open beams and brick floor. The bathrooms have been modernized. The ware house where they pressed the olives has been turned into a restaurant. The husaband and wife welcome the guests as if it is thier own home which it is Saturday nights they have flamenco. The views are wonderful with canyons and elegant cave homes all around. We sat around the fire where the roots of olive wood were burning playing guitar while Cristina served us drinks and home made tapas. They are mulit lingual.

We had an enjoyable evening at this converted olive mill with much ambience. Excellent dinner with local wines and friendly helpful staff made us welcome even on this chilly March evening [they speak some English too]. A fine performance by two dancers, two guitarists and a singer completed the evening. We have a rental holiday home nearby and will recommend it to our visitors. We shall be back; must try in summer.
