The guest at this motel are lovely people. We travelled for nearly 4 weeks and stayed at different hotels, I have to say that this place was a bit more expensive than the others compared to what we got. The rooms/cabins were tiny but well appointed and tidy, I would say a typical place to stay for Hikers or Fishing.... More

Strider and Dave at the Mt. Williamson Motel and Basecamp are just one of the assets you'll enjoy when you visit here. Strider, an experienced backpacker and all around great person, owns this little gem of a motel, and she caters especially to backpackers as a resupply and oasis of comfort when they're hiking in the Sierra Nevada. The hotel... More

I'd like to start with a big Thank you to Dave, he did the welcome and check in and was a big help and host during our stay. A very warm welcome from all around, nice little lodges with all you need and although it is certainly basic everything is clean, well prepared and thoughtful. Independence does not provide much... This was a great place to stay, lovely host who was most welcoming. Room was well appointed and had a kettle! Breakfast was hand cooked in a B&B style and we got to meet other travellers and enjoyed the company and great food. Highly recommended if you like something a little different from the ordinary boring motel style of staying... More

Incredible service by a friendly staff - treats you like family. Breakfast is cooked hot and made to order .....delicious. The rooms are clean and comfortable. A beautiful place! The flowers, cold drinks, amenities for hikers, shuttles are all a part of what contributes to an memorable experience.

Every year I head up the 395 for a visit to friends in northern Nevada. It's an 8 hr trip so often I stay someplace halfway. This has become my go to place. Previously owned by a little old German lady who made it clean and comfortable but not to aesthetically pleasing, though she made a great, yet simple, breakfast.... More

We like to stay at mom & pop places on our travels to national parks and this place fit the bill! Stayed two nights. Cute little cabins with clean accommodations. It was bit small but that is part of the charm. There were 3 of us with big suitcases and a huge cooler and we made it work. Loved the... More

There's not a whole lot of options in Independence, but this hotel is a special place. I hitched in from the Onion Valley trailhead dirty, hungry and tired. The owners, Dave and Strider, know exactly what a hiker needs to rejuvenate and get back on the trail. They were warm and helpful. The rooms were small and basic but immaculate... More

Very nice motel. The owner, Strider (trail name) and her staff work very hard to make sure all runs well. Rooms are quite basic but spotless and breakfast (offered sometimes depending on the season) is excellent. The vibe is like that of a bunch of friends getting together. We went to Las Vegas after the Sierras and I found I... More

Stayed here for a night while visiting family. Staff was excellent, friendly and helpful. The cabins are small and not much room to move around in but, extremely clean and well kept. The only complaint was the room was not ready well after check in time. We had to wait a little bit but were offered drinks while we waited.... More
