I stayed there during the week for about 2 months or so while working nearby in Lone Pine. I travel a lot for work and have stayed in many motels. Ray's Den isn't a new cookie-cutter chain motel, rather a one-of-a-kind place. A little older building but well-maintained with lots of personality. This is probably the cleanest room I can... More

My husband and I read the reviews from others regarding Ray's Den. We signed for an 84.00 charge for the room for one night and after we left they put a charge through on our bank card for 184.00. Linda accused us of smoking in the room and we did not. Neither of us smoke and even if we did... More

We stayed there last week. Linda the owner was fantastic, an old time inn keeper that cares about your stay. Prices are low for the area, and to prove it she drives a crappy 88 Toyota, she invests back in her building. Clean, neat and quiet. Thank you!!!

I've buzzed through Independence dozens of times. Aside from the 30 mph speed limit, I never paid close attention. I had no idea what I was missing. Since I live lower elevation in the LA area, I try to stay at a higher elevation on my way to hike out of Mammoth, Yosemite or Bridgeport. I prefer traveling up 395.... More

We were on a driving holiday and decided to stay here because of the reviews on TripAdvisor. Found it great that I had to call from the UK to book, it meant there was a connection straight away with the owner Linda who's very loverly. The room was spacious and very clean and even though it was by the road,... More

The owner, Linda, who will give you lots of suggestions, has taken this motel and freshened it up so that its spotless, comfortable and just fine. We stayed in #4 with two queens, two chairs, desk, microwave and fridge (useful things for the hiker - be sure to buy your food in Lone Pine cuz there aren't any stores in... More

By far the cleanest, friendliest and most comfortable small motel I've stayed in ever !! When in Independence, staying here is a must, whether for a night or for several days.. Linda is the perfect host.

With this being my first time to the Eastern Sierras I didn't know what to expect. I was meeting a group soon to be friends in Independence to attend the "Pilgrimage to Manzanar" and they had taken the liberty of selecting this place (as they had stayed a couple of times before) and I was throughly surprised. Small, quaint, easy... More

The room was very nice with a table and two chairs. Also had a coffee pot and microwave. Bed was good. Bath was fine and had a nightlight. Our only problem was that Jenny's cafe is only open Wed-Sat so our Tues evening meant snacking in the room. There is a small casino/truck stop about 2 miles north that serves... More

Wow you have got to be kidding clean! Linda ad her mother Shirley were fabulous hosts. The price was awesome so I stayed 4 nights and saw the sites in the area. I loved this part of my trip. Beds good, microwave, coffee pot and fridge. I studied Linda's books from the office about the film museum and Alabama mountains.... More
