Big thanks to all the staff at the Surf castle, we visited in June 2014. The accommodation was clean and stylish, the surf equipment was excellent as was the surf. Really nice small reef for first time reef surfing and then a whole lot of other beach breaks available to suit every level. From the dining room and lounge there... More

I recently stayed in the Surf Castle on a solo trip to Peniche for the weekend. Overall I had the most amazing stay. The waves pumped, the sun shone, and the people were incredibly friendly. The hotel borders the shabby chic category and has loads of charm. You share a toilet but the rooms are clean and have the best... More

Surf Castle was the perfect place to learn to surf: instructors were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and kept enthusiastically encouraging learners throughout surf lessons - despite our endless mistakes :-) The emphasis during lessons was on enjoyment and fun while striving to improve. Instructors were also extremely safety conscious by ensuing learners didnt drift too far from the shore or instruction... More

Perfect location overlooking 2 beaches. Generous, cool & stylish villa-like house from the 1920's or so, plus extra building with studios/apartments. Direct access to the beach. Nice terace looking at the surf. Managed by authentic surf guys, very nice&friendly. Surf trainers live in the house. Training and surfboard rental available in the premises. Free wifi. Surf hostel atmosphere and standards.... More

We stayed for a week in the surf castle. It has the best location by far, and overlooking the reef you can check the surf and crowd before you go out. It's not cheap, but in return you get nice rooms, a view and great breakfast! Would definitely go again!

The house was built sometime after the first World War by a rich Portuguese merchant, and was later purchased by the family of one of the guys that run the place. The house is very special, and the view is breathtaking. They serve breakfast in the shared living room/dining area and having cereal with milk and honey with that view... More

Surf Castle is a great place. If you are not willing to live in a van or a tent anymore and are looking for a relaxed atmosphere Surf Castle is your place. Contact before the trip was clear and relaxed. Jao, one of the guys who runs the place, speaks English very well and is very helpfull about picking you... More

I've stayed at the SurfCastle three or four times now and it is definitely the place to go in Peniche if you want a bit of style and comfort with your surfing. It’s an old family retreat converted into a hotel for surfers and has a fantastic position just above the waves on the point between the surf breaks of... More
