Having previously stayed at both sister properties in Middlebury and Charleston, I decided to give the Berkeley a try; definately not disappointed! We stayed in room 602, which was a generous size with a balcony. East Cary Street is cobblestone in Shockoe Slip, and is lined with some of Richmond's best restaurants. It is within walking distance of the Museums... More

The Berkeley Hotel is on my "favorites" list. Independently owned and located on a cobblestone street in Richmond near the James River, its employees run a very smooth operation. Upon arrival, one of them quizzes you about your room preferences and--at least in my case--finds a perfect match, i.e., quiet room on a high floor. The rooms themselves are relatively... More

Our stay here was essentially one issue after another. We arrived on Friday evening and immediately noticed that the lobby looked pretty shabby. Ugly, worn-out looking carpet and chairs, etc. It just looked and felt "tired". We had plenty of time to notice all this because my husband stood at the front desk for quite some time while the attendant... More

i stay here a couple of times a month on business travel. Love the big rooms, balconies, location by a bunch of small restaurants. Kait at the bar is great. She always have a wine recommendation for me and treats me like I am a special customer. I don't usually eat hotel food, but I have had some appetizers at... More

A cozy downtown hotel with classical styling and a superb staff. Everyone at The Berkeley we dealt with was both professional and personable, but Kait from the bar and restaurant staff particularly stood out. She treated us as truly honored guests in the hopes that we would feel as though we were part of the hotel family, which is how... More

Stayed here in March for a business meeting--the hotel is a small boutique hotel right in downtown Richmond. The rooms were quite nice and spacious--well appointed. I stayed on the 4th floor facing a side street, and did not have much of a noise problem from street traffic, etc like some reviewers experienced. Housekeeping was top notch, and all the... More

I stumbled across this place during snowy two days in Richmond. My friends and I dined there (we are all engineers in the wine and beverage area). Really enjoyed the clientele at the bar, Barista Will makes a fabulous Kettle One martini . . . the food was delightful ranging from Southern Classics to well prepared fish and meat dishes... More

Nice hotel with a comfortable bed in a good location to walk to downtown attractions. However, it does feel rather dated and needs a refresher, the heat/cooling in the rooms is very loud (we changed rooms when we first arrived because of this but they were all the same). The front desk staff were pleasant but seemed to be on... More

The Berkeley Hotel is a charming, 55 room hotel in downtown Richmond. Small entrance, but spacious rooms, full service restaurant and walking distance to neighborhood gems for dining, shopping, history and art.

Due to a snowstorm we ended up changing our travel plans at the last minute and ended up spending the evening at the Berkeley Hotel prior to flying back home. What a nice surprise. It was easy to locate and in a great location of downtown Richmond with lots to see and do around that area. Our room had top... More
