This quaint, European style hotel is located conveniently in the Shockoe Slip district in downtown Richmond. It is in the midst of many sightseeing opportunities. The selection of nearby restaurants and bars is second to none. With valet parking to greet you, the staff is friendly and helpful. The 55 rooms are ample and comfortable. The restaurant is a special... More

The hotel met all of our needs: convenient location for sightseeing and restaurants, valet parking, spacious room with two queen-sized beds, and friendly, helpful staff. The decor is a little dated, but everything functioned as it should and the spaces were clean. Based on some of the reviews, we asked for a quiet room. It faced a brick wall, but... More

We had a private room (Jamestown Room) for our family and had the buffet dinner. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. It was nice to have a quite atmosphere to mingle and enjoy everyone! Will certainly keep the Berkeley in mind for future events.

This is a fun hotel. Close to all the shops and bars in Shockoe Bottom. Be sure to visit the Tobacco Co, across the street for dinner and drinks. Nice music venue. I liked this hotel better than the Jefferson, the bedding was wonderful and the room we stayed in was quite large. The help was very nice. All in... More

I stayed at the Berkeley Hotel in Shockoe Slip for three nights in late April, 2015. The hotel is named for both Berkeley Castle in England, and for Berkeley Plantation(in Charles City, Virginia), an ancestral home of the Harrison family(Benjamin Harrison the Fourth lived there and was known as "the builder". Benjamin Harrison the Fifth lived there and was known... More

Stayed here on a business trip - an elegant hotel. We were especially impressed with Kait at the bar, who was professional and tremendously helpful. Food was outstanding, and the location could vote be beat. Happened to meet the owner, who was very attentive. Will be sure to return.

I never expected a hotel that allowed dogs to be so lovely. It is a four-diamond AAA rated hotel on a cobblestone street near the Capital building. The room was excellent with a comfortable bed and a variety of pillows. to choose from. Since I didn't want to leave my dog, room service was the only option. There was a... More

Located in the historic Shockoe Slip area, this hotel is a grand dame. The room decor was lovely and all was comfortable. The bedding, towels, toiletries and shower were all fine. Parking is valet for a daily fee unless you can swing a free overnight park - which I did both nights - between 6pm and 8am on the main... More

Well, we were pretty much resigned to eating take out in front of the TV, since we were stopping by on Easter Sunday night on the first leg of our trip. At the front desk, though, they had a list of restaurants that were open and serving dinner! So we missed eating in their dining room, because it closed at... More
