This is a nice, old, but nicely updated hotel with classy décor and interior decoration, unfortunately often ruined by the neighborhood. The bars and clubs empty their drunken masses onto the street and there's no attempt by the city to regulate the noise. These people run around screaming, yelling, fighting and setting off their car alarms. I'm not kidding about... More

Rooms are nice but not large if you plan to spend much time in the room. Location is close to very nice restaurants and civil war history museums/sites. At this visit, there was considerable construction going on in the streets, parking was only by valet at extra $22/night and loud crowd noise on Sat night from street level. Friendly and... More

Rooms are nice, and staff was friendly. Agree with other reviews that parking and noise are a problem. On Saturday nights, prepare for the drunks outside to keep you up. Hotel is near several clubs and bars. A party bus let out across the street and coupled with what seemed like the regular Sat. night crowd, we were awakened several... More

I had to come into town last minute for a funeral unfortunately. So when checking hotels in the area I had heard about the Berkley. A family member suggested it to us over the Omni and the Marriott. And BOY were they RIGHT! We had an amazing stay!! A beautiful clean room with a terrace overlooking the historic downtown Richmond... More

Did an overnight visit to Richmond for tea at the Jefferson Hotel. The Berkely is a lovely older hotel located right across from a good restaurant, The Tobacco Company. The staff is very welcoming and the hotel has a cozy feel. Room was very nice, but as someone else mentioned, you do not want to be on a lower floor,... More

Very nice, historic hotel in downtown Richmond. Right across from The Tobacco Company. A must stay when going to the 4th Circuit. 1 block away and check out is noon. Get a suite as was only $10 more than a regular room. Good breakfast for about $12+. They advise you it will take 15 mins to get your car (valet... More

This is a very nice place to stay in many respects....but: The rooms are nice and the location is good. Two key problems: (a) noise; and (b) parking. At 5 a.m. city trash pick up on north-south street directly underneath rooms on that side of hotel -- extremely extremely loud and awoke me and other guests. No advance warning from... More

Thank you for your review! I appreciate the notice of the issues you encountered during your stay. We will definitely address the issue of the trash pickup. We are a Four Diamond property and like to offer the added services of many house made items on our menu and the offering of Valet parking with unlimited retrieval instead of self-parking.... More

My son and I went to Richmond for a college tour and stayed here. It is an old hotel that has been restored very nicely. The rooms were very good and the location was great. We were able to get on street parking most every day which was very convenient. It is a short walk to the Capitol and Museums.... More

I spent a long weekend in Richmond with friends and stayed at the Berkeley. I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. It's staff was friendly (thanks, Darlene, for being so nice) and the room was lovely. The decor was nice, and the bed was great. The only downside was the street noise at night. There are a few bars and... More

We stayed here in the last few days. Lovely hotel, lovely staff in a well presented clean hotel. My only gripe was the brick wall we had for a view. Would go back but would ask for a room with a view better than a wall.
