After consulting previous TripAdvisor reviews, I was leery, but this turned out to be a great experience. My room was vast and quiet. The elevator was slow, but I was on the second floor so this wasn't a problem. I did not eat at the hotel restaurant so cannot comment. but look out for valet parking. pricey & they tried to give me wrong car. everything else decent. .internet, cleanlinesss, gym, quiet, OK if you don't have a car you care about. Staff gruff at times but helpful. more

This was a wonderful hotel. The room was like a small apartment, very clean and nice. The staff were extremely helpful and nice. The hotel is in a nice area, blocks from great restaurants. We walked everywhere and felt completely safe. We're going back again next week! more

The Commonwealth is in a nice location in Richmond if you need to spend some time at the state library. Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be much around. I had to order dinner from a Thai restaurant because I didn't want to eat in the nearly-empty hotel restaurant and I couldn't find any place to go on a Friday night.... more

Having seen the mixed reviews, I had my doubts but they were quickly squashed when we arrived. Very attentive receptionist on arrival. The room was spacious and very clean, as was the bathroom. Lousy view, but let's face it, we WERE there to sightsee and were not spending the day in there!! The breakfast was what you made of it... more
