Spacious suite, especially for the money. Staff at front desk and in restuarant were friendly and helpful. Will stay there again for my next trip to Richmond. more
This was a wonderful hotel. The room was like a small apartment, very clean and nice. The staff were extremely helpful and nice. The hotel is in a nice area, blocks from great restaurants. We walked everywhere and felt completely safe. We're going back again next week! more
I was nervous given the reviews but our main objective was to stay somewhere "different" than the typical hotel room so we took a risk. First, the valet parking is assume. The rate is almost 1/2 as much as I'm use to paying at hotel garages per night. There is a small staff so it's a little more intimate and... more
The Commonwealth is in a nice location in Richmond if you need to spend some time at the state library. Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be much around. I had to order dinner from a Thai restaurant because I didn't want to eat in the nearly-empty hotel restaurant and I couldn't find any place to go on a Friday night.... more

Lousy view, but let's face it, we WERE there to sightsee and were not spending the day in there!! The breakfast was what you made of it... more
The other reviews are right - the rooms are huge. the beds are huge (you could sleep 4 or 5 if you're into that sort of thing). the bathrooms are huge. The location is fine - v. easy to find, next to the state capitol, but not all rooms will have a view of it. You may get a brick... more
My experience at this hotel was a mixed bag. The first thing I noticed was the ENORMOUS SIZE OF THE ROOM. It was more like an apartment than a suite or even a hotel. At first glance the room appeared perfect, but as things progressed problems were found. PROBLEM 1: the carpets were filthy, my child's feet and socks were... more
This hotel has a great location, if you are interested in being near the Capitol, and a couple of excellent restaurants. However our $149 handicapped accessible suite was shabby, dirty and totally without any view except of a dirty interior rooftop. The staff at the desk was pleasant, but seemed focused on their own issues. The carpets were not only... more
