My husband and I stopped at The Exotic Resort Zoo in Johnson City on our way to see the LBJ Ranch. It was definitely work a visit. The place was much larger than I had envisioned and had a great setup. The tour took about an hour. Not only did my husband and I enjoy hand-feeing the animals, it was... More

Family friendly guided tour through some beautiful hill country pastures. Plenty of animals to see and feed. Easy to find off 281 and close to Marble Falls or San Antonio. The petting zoo was also pretty neat and the kids enjoyed playing with the goats!

For us two 60-year olds with no grandchildren, we took a Saturday morning tour of the outdoor zoo, which is NO "resort" of any kind: Our tour guide was full of interesting information about all the animals on the outdoor site. Unfortunately, her megaphone was of such poor quality and rattled as we drove down the gravel roadway, if we... More

Check-in is a little overwhelming. The cashiers have to juggle between, reservations and daily customers walking in. Please make sure upon checking in, that you understand what you are being charged for, and make sure you understand the rules. They speak really fast. We were accidently over charged by $70. They did correct it the next day, when we brought... More

If you are looking for a great place to take your children and get hands on experience with exotic animals, this is the place. While you ride in the back of the tractor; llamas, camels, deer, goats, buffaloes, sheep, and zebras come up to you and you get to feed them. They also have a fun petting zoo with deer... More

At the time of our visit our children had just turned two and four. I found this place online after doing some research for a weekend getaway, (we live in Bastrop, TX). We stayed the night here, they were very friendly and accommodating. We showed up just after hours so they left us all of the info for check-in at... More

We come out to the exotic zoo resort every new years eve. We try to rent all the cabins out. Great place to have fun and not worry about driving. Bon Fire at night is awesome. Kids have fun durig the day and adults have fun at night around the camp fire. It's been a tradition of ours for 4... More

I reviewed this place a few years ago and probably would not have written a new review, except that I see a previous reviewer gave it only 1-star and said some things that are simply not very accurate. We also just stayed in Cabin 2, as we have in the past. The cabin is fairly basic, but fine. The sheets... More

We recently stayed -- for one night -- in Cabin 2. It was bad. The sheets and towels were threadbare. Both the beds smelled bad as did the recliner. The shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor, and the door to the bathroom offered no privacy whatsoever. The overhead light fixture had three bulbs in it. One worked all... More

We just got back from a two night stay and our experience was second to none! I will say though that if you are planning on petting animals by day and laying in the lap of luxury by night, you will be disappointed (and overlooking the whole point of this amazing place!). I will start with the tour, which we... More
