The hotel is on the edge of a real village, not a tourist resort, enjoying spectacular mountain views. The rooms are simple, with tiled floors, attractive fitted pine furniture, large shower room and a balcony. The centre of the village, which is in easy walking distance, has a square, church, shops and restaurants, but I suspect little in the way of... More

We spent a very enjoyable week here. The hotel itself is charmingly rustic, the rooms a good size and very clean. We were fortunate to have a private balcony/terrace area whereas our daughter and son in law only had outside access to the public terrace around the swimming pool. We found the bed and pillows too hard for our liking... More

Upon arrival we were offered a free upgrade to a superior room which was spacious, clean and had fantastic views across the mountains. In fact the views from most parts of the hotel were pretty spectacular. The hotel is well maintained and has a lovely rustic, countryside feel. Breakfast was included in our room rate, a standard buffet style, perfectly... More

Located up in the hills and mountain backdrop....the hotel is built into the hill and winds upwards to all the rooms. Certainly different to your standard hotel. Immaculately clean and the room was huge with a small terrace area outside and a view over the mountains. So quiet. The bathroom had a whirlpool bath and a separate shower. The beds... More

Delightfully rustic retreat in the mountains but only a 300 metre walk on the flat to the village which has a few bars and restaurants and shops. Also only 20kms to the stunning Costa Smeralda. Hotel has efficient staff is very clean and the restaurant( dinner only) serves excellent food. There is an a a la carte menu ( excellent)... More

We stayed here for the first four nights of our honeymoon-and it was a perfect choice! San Pantaleo is tucked up in the stunning scenery of the hills above the Costa Smerelda- an oasis of calm and peace, but close enough to be able to enjoy the beaches and boat trips of the coast. The hotel has been built in... More

Great hotel, great location but not so good catering. We stayed here last week and loved the location, style of the hotel, very rustic and Sardinian in character. It was let down by the catering in our opinion. Breakfasts were not great. Water in flasks were too cool for a good cup of tea. Scrambled eggs and bacon were 'inedible'... More

Hotel Arathena, is a beautiful oldy worldy hotel, set in a little village of San Pantaleo, 20 kms from Olbia airport. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the food was amazing, especially the sardinian special meal. There is a free shuttle bus that takes you down to a lovely white sandy beach, warm, clear water and comes back to... More

After months of planning we were due to stay at the Hotel Arathena for a week in June 2014. With 3 days to go before we arrived they cancelled our reservation, offering us a 2nd rate "alternative" 10 miles from the village of San Pantaleo!!! Despite requests to the hotel for an alternative within the village they failed to respond,... More

Such a lovely hotel. Food amazing. Local town five minute walk to reasonably priced bistros. Hotel runs a mini bus to the beach twice a day. Staff very polite and friendly. Rooms well furnished. Bathroom had a lovely powerful hot shower. Pool area immaculate but could do with some umbrellas.
