Due to some of the reviews here, I was a little hesitant about staying at the Lowell Doubletree. While everyone's opinon is giong to be different, I don't see how this hotel could be described as dingy. The lobby is not maginificent, but it was nice and clean even though some of the furniture could stand to be updated. The... more
Let me start by saying that I think I'm the first to write a review for this hotel...I had book my stay at the Doubletree at Downtown in Lowell for only two nights...I had booked it for 8/15/08-8/17/08....We visited Lowell for "The Water Festival." I had book my trip thru Doubletree.com and selected the Romance Package which includes sparkling wines... more
The hotel is dingy. Staff is very young. When room service kocked on the door my beer was half gone. The underage deivery person confessed that a co-worker had drank it and she would be back with another. We left our in-room dinner trays in the hall way as is customary .After an hour or so there was a loud... more
I booked this hotel for three nights a month before my stay using Priceline. I called a couple days before we arrived to assure I would have two double beds in the room. I was told the hotel was sold out that night because of a convention and they couldn't make any promises. When we arrived at 7:00 pm, I... more
The reviews for this hotel are accurate. I was in town for a concert that was walking distance from the hotel, so I took my chances. It's a pretty dingy place but has a lot of signs that renovations are upcoming. I noticed that the windows, doors, etc. were filthy. The restaurant and outdoor patio on the river were really... more
Arrived in the day time and was a little surprised at how dingy the place looked. The lobby was nice but there were kids (who were obviously employees!) hanging about the lobby chatting with the front desk staff while people were waiting to check in. One of the elevators was out of order and the other two had rips in... more
Some of the reviews worried me, but the hotel was fine. Lowell is an old mill town that got gritty as the industry left, but which has tried to reinvent itself in the past ten or twenty years, and this grittiness was reflected in some of the reviews. It _is_ in an urban setting, and navigating through the one-way streets... more
I was so dissapointed when I checked into this hotel. I am a loyal customer to all Hilton brand hotels, but if I ever return to Lowell, I will not be staying at this Doubletree. Although the rooms are spacious, the furniture and carpet is very dated. The linens are like sandpaper, which is not what I consider to be... more
I recently stayed at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Lowell, MA. I had to they there while attending a small convention in the hotel. As always at a Doubletree, I was greeted by a friendly receptionist and a warm chocolate chip cookie. These are seriously the best reason to stay at Doubletree hotels. The room I was given had a... more
