I had a confirmed reservation at the sister property (Inn at Harvard) but was shuttled to this property after they gave my room away to other guests. This hotel is substantially inferior. The entrance is a Thrify Car Rental, there is no lobby and it feels like a cross between a run down Motel 6 and a college dormitory. My... more

We chose the Harvard Square Hotel because we were attending a wedding across the street at the Charles Hotel (much nicer but also very pricy). Rooms were clean and spacious enough, with a very comfortable bed. The decor was hideous, but that's not really what we were there for. Bedding was old-fashioned (velour blanket and motel-style comforter) and towels were... more

The hotel is ideally placed for Harvard shopping and nightlife, with the university campus only a short stroll away, and a 'T' stop just across the road. Rooms were comfortable, not luxurious, and the bathroom was small and a bit basic, but everything was clean. Rooms were too warm though, we had air conditioning on constantly even though air temperature... more

Good location, near a subway station and nearby a few bars/restaurants. Hotel isn't really great, but OK more

The secretary at a Harvard department booked the room for me. It's close to the university and convenient, and the room was spacy. But at the last night of my stay the ventilator or heater started to make a lot of noise. I had ear plugs so I managed to sleep, but didn't really sleep well so I was tired... more

I would agree, this hotel has a dorm like feel but the room was clean, and the staff very friendly. The location really makes it above average for me, right in the heart of Harvard Square. For one night it was great. more

Noisy, with a dorm-like feel. Battered furniture, terrible mattress. My thermostat didn't work, so they moved me to another room, where it didn't work either--you think they would have checked. I'm sure this is cheaper than other area hotels and might be worth it from that standpoint, but I suggest doing a thorough search before booking here. more

The Harvard Square area is good location for visiting Boston. Traffic getting into the hotel is a little hectic since roads are being fix and traffic routing around the entrance. The rooms are newly renovated, clean and well equiped with flat screen TV, nice storage space and refrigirator. The room is not noisy. The only problem I have encounter is... more

I anticipated a terrible experience based on the reviews; but the hotel was a pleasant surprise. My room was not facing the main road; it had a flat screen tv, bath and body works toiletries and the location is brilliant and much cheaper than all the hotels in the area and most of Boston. This hotel is a less expensive alternative to the Charles Hotel, just across one street. Despite reading comments about plumbing problems and noise, these were not in evidence. I always unplug the fridge in a hotel so that the room is quiet and I slept very well. The hotel provides suggested routes for jogging along the Charles. There is no... more
