Stayed there for brothers graduation from Harvard and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had two rooms right next door to each other and both had nice beds and bathrooms BUT had one major difference. My parents room had a new air conditioner that kept the room cold and made very little noise. Our room however had a... More

We have stayed at this hotel many times and have always had a great experience. The location is excellent (1/4 mile from the Harvard T Stop), the staff is friendly and rooms are full of character. The management has done an excellent job in making improvements to this classic hotel to meet the needs of contemporary travelers (Workout room, Business... More

Spent two days with my wife who was attending a 5-day workshop at Harvard. Without much choice for accommodation in the campus we booked the Sheraton Commander where the classes were conducted. The lack of hotels in Cambridge also meant pretty jacked-up room rates (close to $300 per night for advanced purchase). The hotel was housed in an old classical... More

I spent two nights at the Sheraton Commander on business. The hotel has been nicely updated. My room was comfortable and the bed extremely nice. The bathroom had all the things you would expect, although not overly large. The public rooms in the hotel were very nice and the downstairs restaurant/bar area very inviting. The front desk staff could not... More

There's a smothery scent to this hotel, old though well-maintained and clean. It's there in the corridors and rooms. My room was disgracefully small, with a Spartan bathroom that don't even have a shelf to put the toiletries on (they charge the same rate for this room and a double sized room). All that could have been forgiven except for... More

Loved this hotel. Great service, we had trouble with our television and they came immediately and fixed it. Front desk very helpful. I ran Boston Marathon and they had a special chair massage and light appetizers set up after the race. Thank you!. Easy access to subway. Smallest elevators I've every seen.

I stayed here for one night while visiting Boston on a business trip. The hotel is older, but nice. I was upgraded (because of Platinum status) to a suite - really two rooms (living room and bedroom) connected by a hallway with a bathroom. Everything was clean, but older looking. Personally, I prefer modern decor. Gold and platinum guests have... More

Excellent location. Just a short hop from Harvard Square, Harvard University, the T, Porler Square. Pretty view of the Cambridge Common. My room was quite large but I don't know if that's typical. Beyond size, which was a plus, the room was nothing special, especially for the price, but I was there during a high-demand weekend when rates were probably... More

The Commander is an older hotel that has been nicely refurbished (except for the elevators that were obviously built for a smaller and slower moving crowd). My room (suite 645) was large, full of windows and a great view of Cambridge. Easy walk to Harvard or the Square.

Very close to Harvard Square and transportation. Excellent desk service, free wireless in room, free use of computers/printers off lobby. Very comfortable bedding. Strong lighting and super-powerful magnifying mirror in surprisingly small and somewhat downbeat bathroom that could use a bit of a re-do. Hair dryer worked well. Overall, very pleased with stay.
