A wonderful hotel with very good service. Great location just off Harvard Square. Tried Rialto restaurant for the first time: outstanding!

As an expensive hotel, you expect a certain level of service. Yet the valet service was slow, the front desk staff less than helpful, the room service was incomplete, there are bare wires at the desk where the power/ethernet dock is broken and a rickety Ethernet cable hidden where you wouldn't expect it instead, the TV in the room is... Loved The Charles. The reservations desk found me a room for a second night when they were listed as "full" on the website, though it was at a much higher rate. The location can't be beat. This hotel sure isn't eager to fill its rooms. I called the reservations desk at the hotel today, looking to book a room for 4 nights. The hotel is just down the street from harvard and a nice 25 minute walk to MIT. We had a little 2 1/2 year old with us, so we definitely noticed the fast efficient service and cleanliness at the Charles. This made a real difference to us. Possibly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. It was immaculate. Perfect location right in Harvard Square and just seconds from the T. Elizabeth Stefan was specially helpful with arranging extra accommodations for us. Breakfast was exquisite! The toiletries were gorgeous. The Tv in the bathroom mirror was funky! Loved my stay. My room was comfortable, spacious and quiet. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious. There is no coffee maker in the room. Also, the breakfast room is a bit noisy (couldn't hear my colleagues well at a table for 4).
