This cute B&B made me feel at home. The location is perfect, and the house is very sweet, with a nice porch. The place has an atmosphere, radically different from the surroundings hotels. The staff is helpful and friendly, especially Viviane.

The room was very small and the bed too soft but bathroom was ok size. Although the bedlinen was clean the room did't feel very clean. The house does not have lift so be aware if you have big suitcase since the staff does not offer to help with the luggage. The breakfast was ok and the best is that... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. I am sorry you found the bed too soft. We do replace the mattresses on a regular schedule, but attend to those that need changing sooner, as needed. If you told the front desk staff about yours, we would certainly be looking to replace it. As for the rates, as... More

Was really happy with this B & B. Room (w/ bathroom) was very comfortable and welcoming. Big bay window in room. Great writing desk. Free wifi. Appreciated the free parking in back and the easy walk to campus, Natural History museum. Breakfast was generous with lots of healthy options. Only drawback is no elevator (I think I am right in... Thank you for your kind review. Yes, it is true, we do not have an elevator. Depending on the time of your check in, we may be able to carry bags for you, but do not guarantee that service. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay ! More

When staying at the Irving House at Harvard you may want to slightly lower your expectations with regards to the room. That said, the rooms were very clean and functional. We booked a Queen room with private bath and the room was fairly small. The toilet and sink were in the restroom and the shower was in the bedroom behind... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are sorry you did not find our accommodations up to your standards. Some of our rooms are small, and the room you occupied is the smallest of our rooms with queen bed and private bath. There is no other like that in the house, as a matter... More

A European 2-star room, i.e. purely functional, very small but neither romantic nor luxurious. Pricey for what you get. The inn has over 40 rooms on 3 floors. I chose it for the location on a quiet street just blocks from Harvard's campus and cute local restaurants. (Much nicer than the nearby A Friendly Inn.) I stayed in one of... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am sorry you did not find Irving House to your liking. Yes, some of our rooms are small, and their rate reflects that. While it may seem high, relative to our Harvard Square colleagues, it is still a great value. We are pleased you enjoyed our coffee.... More

I'm surprised the Irving House can bill itself as a hotel. Tiny rooms with small uncomfortable beds, shared bathrooms, no air conditioning in the rooms on a 91 degree night, and the overall vibe was more akin to a dorm than a b&b. On the plus side, the rooms are very clean, the front desk is very nice, and they... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Irving House does have some small rooms among its varied collection, and the house is big, with 44 rooms, so if a traveler is expecting a small private bed and breakfast, that traveler will be disappointed. Our rates remain a good value relative to the very pricey Harvard... More

I stayed here for a couple of nights on business. I had a room with an en-suite bathroom. The room was well-appointed (though small, as it typical for a B&B of this sort) and a nice break from chain hotels. The bed was quite comfortable and there was a desk for work. Wi-fi worked great. Breakfast selection was fine and... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. Irving House had a 4 person room, two beds for our teens and a queen for us with ensuite, which is difficult to find. The room rate included a great breakfast, yoghurts, bagels, scrambled egg, lots of coffee, juice, teas, muffins, fresh and dried fruit all on offer. But better still... More

The problem with old hotels is updating electricity, water, heating, etc is expensive. So you have rooms with exposed pipes, tiny bathrooms, oversized furniture. The room we stayed in was such a room. But it was very clean, good bed, and comfortable for us. We liked it because of location, about a block from Harvard and the action. The staff... More
