I wrote about this picturesque hotel a few years ago. Although it had a great view and we enjoyed what I called then a 'sumptuous' dinner - there were many things that my clients and I did not like. Because of those 'good bits' I have just been again. The hotel still looks lovely, the views are still breathtaking...this time... More

We stayed here as an in between spot before we went to Rome. We arrived pretty late at night, and had not yet had dinner. We were lucky the restaurant stayed open for us. The food was OK, and we were thankful they were still open. Our room was not OK. It did have a beautiful view of the lake,... More

Dear guest, Thanking you for sharing your experience, we truly regret for our inability to fulfill your expectations and for the lack of support during tour stay. Actually we weren't able to repair the shower in a short time, since it took more time than expected to replace the damaged shower part ; aware of the unpleasant inconvenience, we suggested... More

My family and I stayed at the hotel for three nights and for two of them we could not sleep due to the noises created by those guests staying at the venue for celebrations. I don't understand how a hotel could sell rooms sitting below a banquet room and expect guests like me with a 9 months old to go... More

Dear guest, we truly apologize for being unable to better accommodate your family during your stay; we usually take care of all guests, especially of families with babies; in that occasion the hotel was over booked and we couldn't assign a better room. Sometimes it is very hard to balance the hotel accommodation with the events that usually take place... More

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel three times, it offers great value, stunning views and pleasant staff. Although the rooms/bathrooms are quite small the bed is a good size and the bathroom is adequate. The hotel's situation is wonderful, the village of Castel Gandolfo is pretty and interesting and Ciampino airport is close by. We had a... More

This is a very good value hotel, with wonderful views of the lake, and a great terrace restaurant, within 20 minutes of Ciampino airport. We chose it only to be close to the airport for a morning flight; but it turned out to be a very pleasant experience indeed. Restaurant highly recommended for food and value.

This hotel and it's staff and food are wonderful.the rooms were clean, beds comfy if a bit hard and the view from the rooms is outstanding! I had the misfortune to have my purse stolen in Rome on the underground and the lady in the hotel was extremely helpful on my return. A 10min walk takes you to the centre of... More

Castelvecchio is splendidly located with several rooms with a spectacular view onto Lake Albano. Everything is a bit old style, but that was OK for us. Nice roof-top terrace with small swimmingpool (unfortunately still too cold in April). A nice party-room on the top-terrace as well, but that may cause some noice in the rooms below if in use. Unfortunately... More

I have recently completed the first of my "Italy the Sequel" tours for my company Tours for Independent Thinking Women. Our final night was spent at this hotel in relaxing, scenic Castel Gandolfo. My review is as I wrote in the heading: BEST BITS: > wonderfully large bedrooms each with a big view of the lake. > sumptuous dinner prepared... More

The location is fantastic, view on Lago Albano from some of the rooms plus breakfast/ diner hall. Rooms need work urgently, it seems that the place is not really taken care of. Starting from cleanliness, floors, shower, shower heads to many other items, lots of things could be fixed to drastically improve overall appearance. Breakfast is not overwhelming but does... More

The hotel is a beautiful old building with a fantastic view of the lake. it's a bit worn down, but the rooms and the dining halls are still very nice. there are two swimming pools, one on the roof terrace overlooking the surroundings. it's a five minutes walk to the old town with some of really nice restaurants and the...
