And now for something different ... a campsite, hostel and campervan site in one at a wonderful location. This is not a typical set-up but it works. The site is out in the country. It overlooks an estuary and beaches and is overlooked by mountains with views extending across to north Connacht. Apart from a shop all the basic facilities... More

Lovely Campsite with Hostel and working farm, Shaun is a lovely host and offers excellent facilities, clean showers and toilets and a brilliant campers kitchen. The location is perfect for exploring western Donegal and the scenery from the site and the surrounding area is beautiful. If you are planning to explore and camp in Western Donegal this is the best... More

Shaun was an excellent host and the house was cosy. We got a big room to ourselves in the annexe and access to kitchen facilities. In the evening we were welcome in the small livingroom where Shaun had lit a fire and told us the story about his cute little dog Lucky. Close by you can visit the Sleave League-cliffs... More

This campsite has one massive selling point : you'll travel a long, long way before you find another campsite with such a breath-taking view. We usually get around in our campervan to visit places and do 'stuff', but I can just sit in this campsite and for hours watch life going on below in Teelin Bay. Shaun is one of... More

I stayed twice at the Derrylahan hostel in the 1990's. and after reading all these reviews I am happy to hear that nothing has really changed since then. And Shaun the most enjoyable host is still at it. Love those cups of tea. Hospitality is number one!! I look forward to my return.

I spend 3 nights at the Derrylahan on my 9 days hiking tour through Donegal. Shaun was baking a tremendous wedding cake when i arrived. Not for me though, but he made you feel like coming to your mum's place after being away quite a while. Easy to enjoy the company with others, or to avoid when you wanted your... More

If you want a place you feel like being home.. you'll love it! You can start your day with free range eggs from the farm and a view on the slieve league. Shaun was an excellent host, i've spent 4 days in this place and did not feel like leaving at all. Wonderful place for hiking and long walks. And... More

Spent only one night here, but would have happily stayed longer. Shaun was very welcoming and it was more like staying in his home than a hostel. It was busy but everyone was friendly and happy to have a chat. The surrounding countryside was also beautiful, perfect for walking.

We are not regular hostellers so were delighted with the great priced clean private en-suite rooms available. The kitchen did get busy at times but everyone was very friendly and we all managed just fine. We did go at the busiest time.

True explorer's leisure spot! Spectacular views (even if the weather is impetuous..and it usually is;). Closely enough to local pubs and shops. We stayed at the camping site so I cannot rate the inside of the hostel. But staff was welcoming and amenities (toilets & showers) were clean. Big hug to dog Lucky!:)
