Nice location next to Skogarfoss. The hotel is actually in two buildings. Some of us were in the main building, others in the adjacent building. Rooms are simple and clean, just a bed, closet and sink. Bathrooms/showers are down the hall. Even thought the hotel was full, I never had an issue with the bathrooms or showers being available. There... More

We stayed one night at this hotel, since all other place are fully booked. We were shocked by the price. It was the most expensive of all places we have stayed at within Iceland. The rooms are clean but don't have their own bathroom.

The location is very nice but the hotel not! Showers with bad walter and smelly toilets. The buffet it is delicious and eating area very clean. This place it is good just to rest if you are very tired! There is a very nice museum close by to visit and beautiful horses.

Our tour group of 13 people stopped here on the 2nd day of our trip around Iceland. As a school the building and accommodation is fairly basic, but then you get what you pay for. We were staying in the annexe which is at least 100 metres from the main block so I am glad it wasn't raining at meal... More

The location next to the waterfall was convenient. The building is in great shape and the rooms were comfortable. We had to wait to use the restroom the shared restroom is in the middle, but it was overall a great stay.

The hotel is located in a former school building which entails certain limitations. The rooms are small but clean , bathrooms and toilets in the hallway in the room is only a washbasin . If you are traveling with a backpack hostel would be a much better place - at the hotel the lack of a shared kitchen. A definite... More

Hotel Edda Skogar is a no frills, basic accommodation, but in Iceland, where travel, food, & accommodation can be pricey, this type of lodging makes perfect sense. I have always thought that there should be a line of hostels for "mature" travellers, with great beds, simple, but clean and well-arranged rooms, shared bathrooms (immaculately clean) & the opportunity to buy... Well, Iceland is anyway the country where you will not spend too much time inside, so... We where quite happy with this hotel... It was clean, a little bit old fashioned, nothing very stylish, but nice and friendly. A good place to come after the whole day of crazy outdoor activities. Breakfast was normal, coffee was really good and we... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2015

Hotel Edda Skogar was a lovely place to stay, and conveniently located, as we ended our long day with a visit and hike at Skogafoss. The stay was interesting, as the hotel was once a high school, and so each room is a former student dorm and still structured as such. The showers are communal, but I didn't mind. The... More

As other reviewers stated this is a fairly bare-bones establishment (i.e. no frills rooms with shared bathrooms and showers, wi-fi signal limited to the lobby). However, the room we stayed in was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the location could not be beat for the hike we had planned. We had brought along some freeze-dried meals to avoid burning...
