Hotel Edda Skogar was a lovely place to stay, and conveniently located, as we ended our long day with a visit and hike at Skogafoss. The stay was interesting, as the hotel was once a high school, and so each room is a former student dorm and still structured as such. The showers are communal, but I didn't mind. The... More

As other reviewers stated this is a fairly bare-bones establishment (i.e. no frills rooms with shared bathrooms and showers, wi-fi signal limited to the lobby). However, the room we stayed in was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the location could not be beat for the hike we had planned. We had brought along some freeze-dried meals to avoid burning... Really liked this hotel. We opted for the sleeping-bag accommodation in the gym. We were alone so I can safely say it is by far the biggest hotel room I've every stayed in! Showers were spotless and hot. Good mattresses provided and slept very well. Basic but excellent for that category. The huge bonus was that the price included breakfast... More

I remember this hotel primarily as a culinary experience. The buffet is worth the admission alone, both evening and morning buffet. The room was spacious enough for me and my two young kids. The staff added a third bed, a mattress, to my double bedroom without charging anything extra (I had my own linen and sleeping bag for that extra... More

You have next to zero options to stay in this area. We enjoyed the dinner and the the accommodations were adequate. Everything was clean, quiet, and exactly what we expected. The highlight of the show is down the street: Skogafoss! This was one of our favorite Iceland experiences and should not be missed!

This was our first "Edda" experience. The room was quite small (for us, one large bed) with a bit of storage and a sink...but barely enough room to move around. The 2 toilets and 2 showers that were on our floor were just outside our room, which was nice. We had no problems with toilet/shower availability, but it felt like... More

We finished our trek a day early & the hostel where we had a booking the next day was full. Luckily I was told about this by another traveller before we put our tents up in a freezing monsoon. You have to ask at reception for sleeping bag accommodation or you are given a room at 16000 IKR (I met... More

Just returned from Iceland and we spent one night here and the rooms were clean and so were the shared bathrooms. This is a no fills hotel and the rooms are plain but the beds are soft and we had a great night sleeps. The only thing I heard were the sheep in the morning!! so even though there are... More

This hotel is a good no frills option if you want a beautiful location, are travelling the south coast and are on a budget. The rooms are clean, functional and light. We found the staff to be welcoming and helpful. Yes, bathrooms are shared but so what? There was never anyone in the toilets or showers when we used them... More

Definitely the best breakfast we had in Iceland - rich, fresh and healthy, with a large variety of food items including organic and gluten-free options. The hotel looks somewhat harsh, even "soviet" from the outside, but is cosy enough on the inside. We actually stayed in the smaller building attached to it on the right, with shared showers and toilets.... More
