My husband and I recently stayed three nights at Hótel Fljótshlíð while on a self guided tour of south Iceland. We decided to stay in the country in the hopes of seeing the Northern Lights- and the universe did not disappoint! The hotel is 11 km from the town of Hvolsvollur off of route 261. There is large sign on... More

For an Icelander living abroad it was perfect to stay at Hotel Fljotshlid – Smaratun when traveling around my country on my summer holiday. Exploring the surrounding on cute Icelandic horses was amazing. The food was so good – real Icelandic food ☺ The service was excellent and the beds at the hotel even better. I fully recommend Hotel Fljotshlid,... More

As always a car needed to reach it. Rooms were spacious and clean in a 60's decor (and seemingly purchased around the same time). We had a double bed which was comfortable but very soft, unfortunately it was on rolls (don't know why) which meant it moved quite freely within the room. We had the room all the way in... More

We loved our stay at Hotel Fljotshild. We rented the last little chalet on the property - furthest out with great views. Our son loved seeing all the farm animals, and watching the morning round up of the ponies each day. He also loved the little playground (even if it could use some TLC). The restaurant served a very nice... More

I came to Iceland to discover the Southcost and spend one night in Hótel Fljótshlíd before I went on to go to the black beaches of Vík. It is located about 10 km away from the town Hvolsvöllur and is very easy to find. The surrounding area is wonderful and when I woke up, the first thing I saw was... More

If you love animals, you MUST stay here. The hotel is "Icelandic" - meaning quiet, comfy bed, hot shower, and sparse decor. It's fine. However, the food is amazing, and the LOCATION is spectacular! They are a farm with dozens of Icelandic ponies, sheep, pigs and the obligatory farm dog who will run out and meet you when you arrive.... More

We spent a night here as part of extended tour of Iceland. Very pleasant. Staff were friendly and checkin was quick and easy. They werevery happy to provide us with glasses and ice for in room drinks. The rooms were a bit like a North American motel....basic but very clean...twin beds with duvets, large windows, desk, decent closet and TV.... More

We experienced a great dinner with very good lamb leg. Nice and simple atmosphere. Not too expensive as other places in Island. Amazing vew of the country side and the mountains. A little tipical shop inside the hotel.

Stayed overnight here recently for the second time and found the same high standards of food and hospitality . Our room had a beautiful mountain view and we slept well after a first class dinner, breakfast was an excellent buffet of fresh produce and local specialties. On the first visit we rode across the fields almost to the foot of... More
