My stay here was all that I hoped for and more! The views are extraordinary, the accommodations very satisfactory (very clean and well maintained), the food was extraordinary and the staff was exemplary! So many fond memories: A walk across the meadow, holding a new born lamb, Margaret (hotel manager) modeling her authentic Icelandic dress, Dissa (hotel owner) joining us... More

I spent 4 nights here on a knitting tour and couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations. Beautiful views, splendid breakfast buffet and incredible gourmet meals. Dissa and her husband were very gracious hosts, and Margaret the hotel manager was also very welcoming. We enjoyed a lovely walk around the farm with Dissa one evening.

All rooms in this hotel have great views of Eyjafiallajokull which erupted in. 2010. It is quiet and peaceful on a working farm. There are a few lounge areas to relax in which makes up for the very small bedrooms. The buffet breakfast was great, as were all hotel breakfasts in Iceland. However, we had a few issues with this... We travelled as part of a small touring group - first impressions were splendid; setting is amazing. Food very good. However, accommodation was just not fit for pupose. Three of us were allocated to one of the outlying cabins ( 10 min brisk walk to the main building and dining room) . The room I was supposed to share with... More

We arrived a little too late and in pre-season to the hotel but thanks to it we got a great cottage that was still vacant for a great price. And it had its own hot pot! Everything as clean and warm and the lady at the reception desk was really nice and helpful. I can really recommend the cottage, it... More

We had 2 nights here and slept well in a comfortable room. We had read that you could horse ride, but they don't offer it in winter. Need a 4x4 to really explore the area. Good choice at breakfast. Only one choice of evening meal which isn't cheap.

We stayed at Hotel Fljotshlid on two different times during our week-long visit to Iceland in the winter of 2015. The hotel sits by itself with the volcano in the distance--it could be a day trip, but the volcano visitor center is not open in the winter. There are horses left out in the pasture adjacent to the hotel. We... More

We stayed in one of the cabins operated by the hotel, so our review is not really relvant for the hotel itself. The cabin is not very new and that shows. Some things, like the bathroom was quite basic and showed its age. But his is often the case with such cabins, so we were not really too concerned. Overall... More

We wish we had come during a busier time! The grounds and hotel were nice.. but we were the only guests there (I guess that's what you get for coming to Iceland in December!) and the hotel wasn't really functioning at full capacity (ie restaurarnt closed at night) . I had read reviews about horse back riding and hot tubs..... More

My husband and I recently stayed three nights at Hótel Fljótshlíð while on a self guided tour of south Iceland. We decided to stay in the country in the hopes of seeing the Northern Lights- and the universe did not disappoint! The hotel is 11 km from the town of Hvolsvollur off of route 261. There is large sign on... More
