We stayed at Ranga for 2 nights while on a 5 day trip. It was all that we expected.A Wonderful location with great staff who went out there way to make your stay memorable. From amazing food to a glance of the Northern lights on a couple of occasions. We tried the hot tub which was an experience as the... More

A fantastic setting and prime location to view the lights. Hotel offers wake up service when lights are about, a wonderful idea as you don't want to miss an opportunity to view the spectacle of a lifetime.( remember to tell them if you want to be woken up several times in the night) Restaurant serves excellent food , but pricey.Staff... This is special. It is not big, but it is a place for everybody. Wonderful breakfast and delicious dinner with a huge wine list. Personal attention from the owner. Comfortable warm rooms with whirlpool baths. Outside hot tubs just for fun! The staff cannot do enough for you, whether it is bringing a bucket of ice to your room within... More

We were upgraded on our arrival to the Africa suite which was a lovely surprise. The suite was large with a very comfy bed and an amazing jacuzzi bath. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful with ideas for sightseeing in Southern Iceland. Loved the complimentary chocolates in the room and at recption!! We were very lucky and... More

We have just got back from Iceland and by far the highlight (other than the natural beauty of the place) was Hotel Ranga. Its position is perfect for those who like isolation with non of the drawbacks. Only 50 miles from Reykjavik it is a perfect base for exploring the south coast. We also nipped back to the Blue Lagoon... More

The reception staff at Hotel Ranga impressed me even before I arrived – I emailed them several times in advance to arrange a vegetarian meal for my first night and to book snowmobiling and horseriding and they were extremely helpful. When I checked in they were friendly and went through all the arrangements I had made with them. They were... More

My partner and I stayed at Ranga during the last week of January 2012. We found it to be extremely welcoming, relaxing and beautiful. The hotel itself is simple in appearance, but the rooms are well appointed. I suggest getting a room with a view of the river. We also had a room with a large bed and a jacuzzi... More

Great food but that is about it sadly. Reception staff were lazy, didn't want to help with issue with room and they did not give call for lights activity, so we missed them which is the whole point of the place so. When I asked why did I not get a call I was told that they have too many... More

We arrived later than expected and the staff organised a lovely meal for our coach party(31 people) We were given a very informative presentation about the aurora borealis...although very sadly they didnt appear for us! The room was clean with comfortable beds and too warm for us but luckily we were able to turn off the radiators.Even though our room,26,was... More

Stayed her for 3 nights from 7th to 10th Feb. Hotel was nice and personal with staff being very friendly and letting us know when the Northern Lights were out on display. Lucky to see them at 8.30pm and then again a magical display at 00.30 on the Tuesday night. There is no light polution as the Hotel is in... More
