Went to Iceland for a few nights to try and see the northern lights with my girlfriend, staff at the hotel were very polite and friendly and also extremely knowledgeable about the Northern lights. Very nice hotel, outdoor hot tub at night under the stars is an experience. more

The trip was booked for my wife's 40th birthday. The location whilst remote was absolutlely perfect. The service was faultless with the staff and owner always on hand to ensure your stay is perfect. It was. I would strongly recommend anyone travelling to iceland to spend sometime here. . I've travelled to many countries and this was by far the... more

Ranga could easily be one of Icelands best countryside hotel, but it is somewhat disappointing. It was enlarged last year, and quite few rooms added to the building, but still they did not enlarge the parking, so therefore you might end up parking your vehicles on the grass, or up to the bedroom windows, not good. The extension was not... more

There is a gigantic stuffed polar bear in the lobby, and that is the best thing about the place. The 'hot tubs' out the back were luke warm, and although the food in the restaurant turned out to be nice enough it cost an arm and a leg and a song and dance to get anything decent for the vegetarians.... more

I booked this hotel because the main aim of our trip was to try and see the Northern Lights. Instead of booking an organised tour from the UK hoping that the Lights would show, I thought I would book into a hotel that has very little light pollution and is said to be in a great area to see the... more

We stayed at the Ranga for one night towards the end of our stay in Iceland. First of all it isn't cheap, but if the price is agreeable I think you'll have trouble finding a better hotel in Iceland (we stayed in 4 others). All the staff were really friendly. The room was comfortable with a big bed and a... more

Just returned from 2 days at this hotel. Excellent staff and first class food. Be sure and eat foal. The rooms are good but not great. The scenery is not exactly what you expect....it is very flat around Hella. But it is near a lot of fabulous sights. We recommend the super-jeep tours. Ask for Ragnar who is wonderful. The... more

My hsband and I stayed at Hotel Ranga for two night as part of our self-drive holiday and was the fourth hotel out of five we were staying at as part of our holiday. Hotel Ranga did not disappoint. It is billed as the only 5* hotel in the South of Iceland and I can see why. It has the... more

I decided to check out Iceland's 4 star hotel. The Hotel Ranga is near Hella and is very easy to get to. It is a very nice hotel situated near a salmon river and nothing else near by for total peace & quiet. The staff at this property was extremely nice & helpful! It is on the expensive side but... more

Good facilities, some of the staff were excellent, others were worse than awful. Food was OK but should have been better but they had very a good wine selection. Hot tub was great (if a little too public). Excursions are easy to organise through reception (fantastic staff on reception) and wifi is free. The only problem we found was sadly... more
