We stayed at Hestheimar our first night in Iceland, and it was a great experience. The cottages are so cozy, cute, and clean. It was a relaxing way to get over our jetlag. The next day we signed up for the one-hour horse riding, which was great as well. Next time I'm in Iceland, I want to stay there again!... More

Wonderful little guest house in the hills near Hella. Went horse riding the next day for 6500 (1hr). 2hrs was 8500 pp. Rooms were cute with some chocolates and towels and nice bathrooms. The only thing was that there IS NOT a shared kitchen as the description states. You are not allowed to use their facilities, even for simple things.... More

The most welcoming place I have ever stayed. Amazing staff, beautiful location, great rooms - perfect down to the mints on the pillows and the bathrobes provided. Do recommend booking in advance though - we turned up to stay a second time and found it doubled the price.

Hi :) Thank you for staying at Hestheimar and this wonderful review, which we appreciate a lot. Regarding the price, the only explanation I can think of, is that either it is a misunderstanding or it is because during some of the low season periods we offer 50 % off the accommodation prices here at Hestheimar. Either way, I would... More

We stayed here in mid Nov 2013. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with tea/coffee and cakes. Everyone was so friendly. We stayed in a cabin which was surrounded by snow with amazing views of Volcanos and mountains. The cabin was really nice. We also paid for a cooked 3 course meal which was great and ate with... We stayed in one of the small cottages and had a wonderful week. Breakfast was excellent. The parent beds were very good. The children's beds were a bit weak. There is not much room left when there are 4 beds in the small cottage, but it worked out fine. We had problems with the WiFi which did not work very... More

Excellent hospitality, very welcoming and helpful with excursion ideas. Lovely accommodation and breakfast. I got to see the northern lights from the hottub what could be better! Excellent location just off the 1 with the attractions of the south coast (waterfalls and glacier walking) all within 20-40 minutes away. Close to Hella for great meals at the Cafe Arhus. Can't... I have just come back from my fourth stay at Hestheimar this year, 4 days of autumnal golden sunshine and excellent horse riding conditions - the staff was friendly as ever - though changing over the year - and the food delicious as one has got used over the years. The cosy room in the main building provided a comfortable... More

This is located a really convenient distance from the main city. The breakfast is really amazing, with fresh breads, lovely jams, some hot eggs. Our room was the apartment next to the horse barn. It had a nice little kitchenette, a bedroom with 2 full beds and a day bed in the family room. The family room also had a... More
