We stayed here as part of a Travelzoo deal. The room was nice and clean and the staff were wonderful and helpful. We just had an issue with the hot water. Apparently the secret (as the front desk staff member informed us) is to let the water run in the bath tub and the sink at the same time for... More

This hotel is a great place to stay when you are in Springfield. It is close to all attractions Lincoln house, State capitol, Lincoln Museum and Library, and all downtown sites. We stayed in a king suite that had a bedroom with a king bed and a living area with a sleeping sofa, small sink, microwave, coffee maker, and fridge.... More

This hotel has been around for a long time and tries really hard to be an upgraded hotel. I can't say enough good things about the staff -- attentive, personable, friendly and helpful! Pros: Lounge, breakfast in the morning, clean room for the most part; close to quite a few attractions;updated bathroom; FREE parking (rare these days) and a GREAT... More

The staff here were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The hot breakfast was good. I recommend this hotel. All the attractions, such as State Capitol building, are nearby.

I could not believe how nice this hotel is for the price we paid for it. Nice part of the downtown area, walkable distance to many sites as well as restaurants and bars. We felt very comfortable walking around the area in the evenings and at night. The hotel itself and the room were clean. and the staff at the... More

This well run hotel is a short walk to the Old State Capital, AMTRAK, and (via low city bus) convenient to the Lincoln Tomb and home. The rooms are spacious. clean, comfortable.and convenient, and come with a microwave. The staff was helpful and kind enough to bring up a small refrigerator when I asked for it. While the historic area... More

We were on a Route 66 drive and were trying to stay at different hotels from that era. The State House Inn is definitely 1950's-60's. While the lobby was large and contemporary, the room and furniture were dated, fun but not overly comfortable (replace the sofa, please!). There was a separate bedroom, and we thought the bed was comfortable, which... More

where to start--mattress way too soft, bathroom sink drain didn't work, no hot water. We tried to get our $ back but we're only given an apology and 20% discount. I do not recommend. The breakfast wasn't bad -- I got scrambled eggs.

This hotel is rather deceiving. The reception area is quite modern, as is the walk up from the car park (which has ample spaces). However, once you enter the room you are transported back to the 1960's. We were allocated a suite which was huge and comfortable. The furniture and decor were very outdated. The TV was maybe from 1980,... More

Stayed here for a wedding. The wedding venue was very nice but the rooms left much to be desired. The biggest problem was the complete lack of hot water in the morning. The front desk indicated that this is a known problem and to just let the water run for 10 minutes. The water remained ice cold, but eventually got... More
