We recently spent 2 nights in a deluxe suite at the State House Inn while we explored the Lincoln Museum and other attractions. The location was perfect and within easy walking distance to the museum, train station, Capital, Lincoln's house & neighborhood. We found the hotel to be very clean, the staff was extremely friendly & helpful, the breakfast was... More

We had a discount coupon for this hotel and figured we would give it a try. It was a great experience. Front desk staff were efficient, pleasant and very helpful, giving us maps and walking routes to various Lincoln attractions throughout the downtown area. Hubby and I both though the bed was the most comfortable we've been in for a... More

We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon without a reservation. The woman at the front desk was extremely helpful and secured an upgrade for us by asking the right questions. I was shocked when she asked our smoking preference. I did not know that any hotel had smoking rooms anymore. They must have been below us because I frequently smelled it... More

This hotel has mid century modern charm throughout. It is very clean and staff is very helpful and friendly. I recommend this hotel. It is very conveniently located if you have business in the capital. Additionally, it is quiet and the bedding is comfortable.

This is the second time I've stayed at the state house inn. It was during a very busy weekend, several conventions and the state fair was in Springfield. But I should have known the visit was not to be incident free from the beginning. Again the hotel has a 60's motif and the elevators and common areas are still dated.... More

Located directly across the street from the Illinois State Capital Building, this property has had some nice upgrades. We had a king room with a small fridge and microwave. Lots of bathroom accoutrements including hair dryer and robes. Comfortable bed and free Wi-Fi. Small lounge (full bar) on premises (open late) along with a free hot breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausages,... More

Arrived at this hotel on 8-30 for two nights. Staff was very accommodating, especially tough since they had just experienced a major flood! On-site parking was a little difficult as there were wedding receptions both nights. But we did find a space. And there is plenty of FREE parking across the street. TVs were a bit dated but there were... More

Pluses: Good location, fast internet, very good free breakfast. Got a queen suite - lots of room, good layout. .Staff was friendly and helpful. Minuses: Room furnishings were very dated and needed replacement. Old TVs. One lamp was held together with a "bread tie". Biggest problem: For some inexplicable reason, late in the night I could only get scalding hot... More

The hotel was very interesting and met our needs. We liked the deco styling and could certainly walk to all the area attractions. The bar chairs showed some wear, but everything else seemed to be in good condition. The front desk staff was extremely personable and helpful. We did have trouble regulating the hot water in the bathroom ... not... More
